IMO, after watching the game last night, don't think it's obvious at all. They're definitely a threat to make the playoffs, but I think they have just as a good a chance to miss as the Flames, Nucks, Kings and Jets.

If you believe Dubnyk and the Wild will cool off soon last nights game certainly helped that thought. Dudnyk played well, was solid positionally, but really wasn't much of a factor. He lost the puck many times, the Hudler chance from Gaudreau on the PP he had no idea where it was, looking behind the net and was very lucky Hudler didn't get all of it.
Wild really made a push but they were so far back it'll be way too hard to continue that push.

Yah, I don't see the Wild as a "lock". They are just super hot right now. I say you can pencil the Kings in though, just too good and starting to play at the right time.
Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, SJ, Minny, Dallas fighting for the Wild Card spots, and the last division spot for Calgary, Van and SJ.

The Wild have a brutal stretch to end the season. They still play Nashville and St Louis three times each. There next 10 games are "easy", with only 2 against playoff teams (and two of their next three against the Oilers). After that though, 14 of their final 15 games are against teams currently in a playoff spot.
With the standings as tight as they are, they can't even count on teams relaxing late in the season because there will likely be jockeying for position right up until the end of the season.

Yeah it will be interesting to see.
Both LA and Minnesota have been playing at a torrid pace, but that's hard to keep up.
Especially with Dubnyk doing his best Carey Price impression in Minnesota.

After 61 games played the Flames are 1.415 points behind the 96 pace line. After finishing games 57 & 58 above the line, they've had three straight games below it. They need to win two more games in a row to get back above the black snake. They have to accumulate 26 points in the last 21 games (0.619 points percentage). They are 17 points ahead of last year's team.

Last night was pretty good, but almost no help from the OOT lately. The Flames need to do this by themselves. I believe. Go Flames Go!!!!!!!
I love it how I don't give a crap how each Flames/Sabres win/loss affects the upcoming draft.

After the shoot out win in Boston last night the Flames are 0.927 points below the black snake. They need two more wins in a row (@ Detroit and @ Ottawa), bringing the current streak to four straight wins, in order to be ahead of the 96 point pace.

After 66 games played the Flames have 77 points, equaling their total from last year. The black snake is only 0.268 points above the red snake. To achieve the 96 point mark, Calgary needs 19 points in 16 games (0.594 point percentage). They have 18 more points this year than at the 66 games played mark.

9 wins and a few extra time losses would virtually guarantee playoffs.
8-8-0 we would be right on the edge.

.500 and you're teetering on the edge of in or out
8-7-1 could very well get us in
Any record that includes 9 wins is basically a guarantee.

Um..no. That's 99+ points.
If that were the requirement, every team in the race would have to be playing like .700 hockey the rest of the way, which is unrealistic.
94 points might be enough. 95-96 positively gets you in.

This year I think 94 gets you in, but 96 should be the guaranteed mark. So 10 more wins and we're golden.
This is the best playoff thread so far. The snakes are awesome. Especially Edmonton's hahahahahaha.

There have been two instances where all 95 points got that team was 9th place. Really good chance it gets you in, but I wouldn't guarantee it or anything.
96 I like better, if anything above that doesn't get the Flames in, it will be a travesty.
