Stephen Whyno @SWhyno
#NHLJets sign college free agent forward Brandon Tanev of Providence to 2-way deal for rest of season.

They'll probably take a step back to be sure... when Jankowski joined they were one of the most freshman heavy teams in D1 so I would assume that this year they were one of the most senior heavy. They'll still have Walman, all their goalies, and Scott Conway presumably transfers over next season so they won't be starting over from scratch.

Yeah they had 9 seniors this year, I think they could lose a couple non-seniors as well, I wouldn't be shocked to see Florentino and/or Walman go pro too.

I would be willing to bet that Providence is now a school on the map for prospective kids. I would imagine with Leaman there, them winning a championship just last year, and watching so many Friar grads get picked up relatively quickly by NHL teams will make that a good program moving forward. Probably a step back this upcoming year, but probably back to being one of the better teams the year after.

Leaman helped Union College get their program going too, he was the fisrt winning coach at Union since the 70s. He led them to their 1st NCAA Tournament appearance and laid the groundwork for their first Frozen Four appearance 2012 and their National Championship in 2014.

college hockey in general seems to be really taking off. I know the big-10 in my area has taken huge strides the last half decade.

Looks like it may be sooner rather that later on Lyon.

NEW HAVEN >> Alex Lyon, Yale's first-team All-American goaltender, will forgo his senior season to sign an NHL contract, the Register has learned.

At least a dozen teams have presented their case. Lyon is in the process of choosing the best offer with his family and an advisor. A decision is expected by the end of the week, but, sources said, a deal is imminent.

Chicago and Toronto, where Lyon has attended summer developmental camps the past two summers, are believed to be in the mix. Others have also made strong impressions, though as of Tuesday, there is no clear leader.

We have a small in with Lyon by having Agostino.

They overlapped in 2013-2014

Edmonton Oilers ‏@EdmontonOilers
The #Oilers have signed @FriarsHockey goaltender Nick Ellis to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Another blow for the Friars.

Will also be interesting to see how the Gillies vs Ellis matches play out

Vancouver Province sports reporter linking Stecher and perhaps Caggiula to the Canucks. Could certainly use them!

Steve Ewen ‏@SteveEwen 2h2 hours ago
Heard from a guy who should know: UND D Troy Stecher is still leaning towards signing with #Canucks. Richmond kid, @PentictonVees alum.

Steve Ewen ‏@SteveEwen 2h2 hours ago
Same guy says that UND F Drake Caggiula remains a possibility for #Canucks.

Ellis has a lot of experience watching Gillies get shutouts. That will help him fit in with the Oilers.

UND has won the National championship.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Word this week is he wants to go back for his sophomore season. Maybe that changes, but that was the talk. Drake Caggiula is a UFA...

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
OTT and VAN are among top contenders, but now that he can't "burn" a year, a few sources expect CHI (& others) to be a major pursuer too.

Any word on Sam Anas? He made the first team all star and had previously attended Habs and Caps prospect camps.

NEWS 1130 Sports @NEWS1130Sports
Sources say it's down to a shortlist including the #Canucks and Oilers for Richmond B.C native and North Dakota defenseman Troy Stecher.

NEWS 1130 Sports @NEWS1130Sports
Nothing is imminent on Stecher, he's beginning the process of evaluating teams. More than 1 Canadian team on shortlist. #Canucks

Sounds like front runners for Frozen Four MOP Drake Caggiula are (in no order): CHI, EDM, PHI, VAN and OTT. I think BUF is in the mix, too.

I have to wonder if Travis St. Denis is going to get any amateur deals. He was Quinnipiac's second leading scorer this year. Small, speedy winger with a quick and accurate release.

North Dakota source says defenseman and B.C boy Troy Stecher could pick his NHL team tonight or next 24 hours. #Canucks 1 of the finalist.
