It just means they lose 2-1 in OT. You aren't going to win many playoff series scoring 1.5 goals a game.
You don't win championships without goaltending and D

Another year, another Toronto bed #####ing.

Not sure I know what their strategy/approach is any more. Ride Matthews' coattails and continue dressing a C- defense group and sub-average goalie?

Bold strategy, Cotton!..

When they lose next game in Boston, who is going to get fired first, the president, the GM or the coach?

I doubt Tree is fired in his first year in the job. Shanahan and Keefe are more likely... Personally I foresee Keefe getting the axe. I believe Shanahan is well liked by ownership.

Fans will want blood and the Leafs are made of money. Even though his extension hasn't started yet (I don't think?), Keefe will be fired.

Bruins were 4-0 against the Leafs in the regular season. I guess the series shouldn't be a surprise. Somehow though, every year, it seems that the Leafs have to break through this yime! And yet...

Leafs made it clear all year that they were either going to need to spend some assets on a goalie and a d cornerstone, or try to outscore their way through the playoffs. They went with the latter, which isn’t easy. You’re nuked the moment a goal scorer is hurt… and they are down both of their best.

Locking it down and hoping for 2 goals by your depth isn’t an option for them. Cooked.

Matthews missed one period, they just aren't good enough

And Nylander missed several games.

I didn’t say differently.

Things not going to well for the Marlies, either.

This series isn't a surprise, We have seen that the Leafs are top heavy on the top side of their forward group, but their blueline and goaltending and even bottom 6 are budget handicapped.

As much as Leaf fans want history to repeat itself and see the Leafs come back to force something like a game 7, I doubt the Bruins who are very deep and very well coached are going to let them push back into the series.

This isn't about the Leaf's being soft and the Bruins running them over. The Bruins are just a smarter club with better coaches.

I kinda expect that with the moral so low in Toronto, that they will be done after Tuesday's game.

As far as Tre's fate, they're not going to fire him after year 1, they're going to give him a year to put a stamp on this team. Looking at their cap friendly, The Leafs are going to lose most of their blueline and goaltending. So I think that they're going to really try to move JT, and Marner will still be an attractive piece.

There's no question that the coaching staff is going to be shot into the sun. A team with that much offensive talent, that can't score in the playoffs and has a terrible power play is on the coaches.

Hoooo boy, the FAN Morning Show today was excellent. Even though I like the Leafs, drama that follows a home team's loss is always entertaining, unless it has to do with the Flames. Dissecting the whole Matthews-Marner-Nylander argument on the bench, Matthews being pulled in the 3rd because he wasn't feeling well, Keefe's post-game where he essentially backed up his team and pushed back on suggestions that the effort wasn't there, etc.

I guess Matthews is sick of being a Leaf?

I'd say its not an effort issue, as Dino7C said they just aren't good enough.

They don't have any impact defenseman IMO (Reilly is overrated).

They don't have any goaltending.

Their forward group lacks depth.

A well coached and strong team like Boston is going to be able to shut down Matthews and Marner when they can really focus and isolate them. None of them being 100% healthy (Nylander: Migraines / Post Concussion, Marner: High Ankle Sprain, Matthews: Illness) doesn't help either.

Boston is a better team, and they are proving they are a better team.

They can suppress chances but they can't move the puck and don't support the offense.

Leafs over rotated on a big defense with Lybushkin, Edmundson, and Benoit all in the lineup, and now are struggling to generate offense.

There must be change this off-season. With all that offensive talent, the Leafs still can't score.

Matthews has one goal, Johnny T zero, Marner one. More than $30 million for two goals lol.

Imagine being obsessed with this team like half the country is

Only to know that they're dog food for the Bruins every single year.

That video of the bench is just the best. Marner throwing a fit, Nylander saying “stop ####ing crying bro”… this is why we need the Leafs in the playoffs, to watch moments like this.
