Default Shaw PVR expander help

Alright, so last year I bought an external hard drive to expand the storage in my PVR. I didn't buy the official one though, I bought the combo hard drive and enclosure from memory express as recommended by this thread.

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...highlight=shaw

So that worked, and everything was going great until recently. Now when I go to play one of the recordings a blue text box flashes on the bottom of the screen too quickly to read, and then the PVR says it is playing but it stays on the channel in the background. If that makes sense.

I've tried the typical "turn it off and on" solution, and that doesn't work, so can someone please tell me if my drive is dead, or if there's some way to fix this.

Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

Have you tried unplugging the pvr and expander from the wall, waiting for 15 min, then plugging it all in again? that should do a soft reboot of the pvr

does it happen with just one program or any on the pvr itself?

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I'll try the reboot thanks. It only happens on programs I recorded after I installed the expander, so basically it only happens to shows that are recorded on it. Anything I record now seems to be going to the internal drive fine.

I'm not sure if it was the exact same problem, but my parents had something similar. Rico's advice to unplug both is good. One or the other might not do it. It took a couple of tries but the drive was once again recognized, everything was still there, and it hasn't had a problem since.

Thanks a lot guys! Re booting both seems to have done the trick.

Anyone ever have an issue where you it showed 875 full one day then 28% the next yet everything is still there and seems to work fine?

I wonder if I should just reboot as well. It's not a big issue but I guess I just don't know when it is full.

I used to have this with mine ... usually deleting one show reset the counter.

I had a power failure on mine (official shaw one) and now the counter only reads 0% until it is completly full, then reads 1%.

I have tried resetting both expander and shaw box to no avail - suggestions?

Would like to know when I am "close to full" before reaching 1%.

Thx.
