Medical timeout for Verdasco. I'm not convinced he's as hurt as he's letting on here.

The medical timeout and an electrolyte drink from his GF may help Verdasco a bit physically, but it won't do a lick for him mentally.

Watching Milos on TSN5. He should be killing this guy and hes down a set and in a tiebreak in the second. Couple of key errors at just the absolute wrong times.

Not a good loss at all for someone playing on their best surface of the season. You've got to start to wonder what is going on for someone who was practically unbeatable last year on grass to be dropping games left and right this year.
I did not see the match but in looking at the stat line, Kokkinakis should have been thoroughly dominated. Roanic was all over the return of serve and the Aussie did not even generate a break point compared to 9 by Raonic. Milos has got to find a way to convert at least 2-3 of those chances against a player like that.

Milos was up 6-3 in the second set tie-breaker, I mean you have got to find a way to close out that set. Pretty disappointing performance.

But hey, Felix won his match at the ATP challenger event in Blois, France - Won the first set 6-2 and was up 4-0 in the second set when his opponent retired.

I'm very interested to see how Shapovalov handles Berdych in his upcoming match after rallying to oust a tough opponent in Edmund. A young guy swinging freely against a somewhat struggling power player could make for a pretty entertaining affair.
A few more significant match wins at the tour level could do wonders for this kids game as well.

The Stanimal also was upset today at the Queen's club tourney as he was dispatched by Feliciano Lopez of Spain in straight sets. That loss by Stan could help Roger as far as seeding is concerned for the men's draw at Wimbledon as they use the following formula:
The seeds are the top 32 players on the Emirates ATP Ranking list, but then rearranged on a surface-based system. Since 2002 a seeding committee has not been required for the Gentlemen’s Singles following an agreement made with the ATP. The seeding order is determined using an objective and transparent system to reflect more accurately an individual player’s grass court achievements:
The formula is:
– Take the Emirates ATP Ranking points at 26 June 2017
– Add 100% of the points earned for all grass court tournaments in the past 12 months
– Add 75% of the points earned for the best grass court tournament in the 12 months before that
Basically, Joker will now be seeded #2 at Wimbledon and if Fed can win two matches at the tourney in Halle, he will be seeded #4 and avoid meeting Joker, Andy Murray, or Rafa until the semi-finals.

I can't remember the last tournament that the top 3 seeds all lost their first round match. Murray out as well. Wonder if Cilic can make it 4/4

Shapovalov has received a wildcard berth into the main draw for Wimbledon! Canada should be well represented with Raonic and Pospisil also rounding out our contingent in the tournament this year.

I haven't been watching the Berdych - Shapovalov match, but they're going to a third set (Berdych won the first set in a tie-breaker(4), Denis won the second set in a tie-breaker(4))

Looks like Berdych just barely took the third set for 7-6(4) 6-7 (4) 7-5 victory.
Really encouraging to see Shapovalov force the issue against a tough, experienced grass player. He did not surrender a break point until the final game of the match either.
If he gets a bit of luck in the draw and avoids the top seeds he will be a tough out as a first round opponent at Wimbledon.

Berdych may not be the same player he was a few years ago, but lest we forget that he's still ranked #14 in the world and Denis essentially took him to the limit. Pretty impressive performance by the 18 year old.

Dzumher is no slouch either (ranked #94), great effort by Felix.

I would not be surprised if we are talking about 4 Canadian male players in the top 100 by this time next year if Shapovalov and Felix continue on their current trajectory.
This time last year both of these kids were essentially junior players without a single pro match to their credit and they are now holding their own against some of the best tour level players in the world.
Exciting times ahead for Canadian tennis fans.

I wish I knew how to embed tweets on this board, but here's a great shot from Denis from his match against Berdych earlier today.

Roger rolls over Alex Zverev in the Gerry Weber final (6-1 6-3). Next up, Wimbledon.
