Some of these Microsoft presenters are insufferable. "and of course it has touch. Of course it does". Ugh

The presentation is what it is. But that hardware is... wait for it.

... Beautiful.

Not just an iMac rip off.

I don't think it is an iMac ripoff at all. It actually really looks nice, but they should have made the compute module swapable so you could upgrade it in a few years. Does it have USB ports on the back?

Here is all the stuff that matters:

I guess they have decided to aim high end. $3k for that all in one. It doesn't seam a terrible strategy since Apple is kind of abandoning that segment. Will have to see what they announce at their little shindig.

So I just picked up a Surface Book over the weekend and so far have been super impressed.

Does anyone else have a surface book (or Surface pro) that can recommend some essential apps / accessories?

So far the best app I've download so far is the Drawboard PDF editor which has been the best PDF editor I have found to use with the surface pen.

I haven't noticed that, however I've only had it for a few days and I'm mostly just staring at it thinking it must be from the future.

My biggest pet peeve is the windows 10 'share' button isnt compatible with outlook 2016 so i have to use the built in Mail app if i want to send a file directly from the application.

Having an issue on my home PC, where I have windows 10.

Powers up fine, starts to load windows, and then I get a blank screen for about 10 minutes. After a few re-starts to try again, I waited and waited and then hear the "connect" sound of my external HDs- still on the blank screen. I see a mouse pointer but clicking does nothing. A while later I finally got my desktop (only on one screen), but with no icons on it. And when I click the start menu, and try to open anything (I've tried to open control panel, and chrome), nothing happens at all. Although the start menu seems to open up.

I doubt this is a windows issue, but I am wondering if any computer guys know better than me? Corrupt windows on the HD?

I am ready to start with a fresh install, but is that my issue here? I have a Samsung SSD as my boot drive, it's about 1 year old. Are they unreliable? I've had to do a few clean installs the past couple years and am sick of it, so any advice on a reliable HD if that is indeed my issue?

Interesting. You sound like you have a similar issue to me but far more severe. There is a 30 second delay at times between when my main login screen appears to where I can actually type in my PW. I too have a Samsung drive as my O/S drive.

Windows 10's April Update Crashes Systems With Intel SSDs

Microsoft has announced that it's blocking some systems with Intel SSDs from receiving the Windows 10 April 2018 update. Microsoft's April 2018 update began rolling out to Windows 10 systems on April 30, but the update has caused some systems with Intel SSDs to enter a UEFI screen reboot or crash repeatedly. For now, users with unspecified Intel SSDs will not receive the April update automatically, and they also cannot install the update manually.

Microsoft has pushed updates to many systems with Intel SSDs already, but it advises impacted users to roll back to Windows 10 version 1709, which you can do by hitting F8 during the boot process and restoring the previous version of the operating system.

Toshiba SSDs are also potentially impacted.

Microsoft really needs to get their crap in order with patching. Since the Spectre/Meltdown crisis began in January, every month has been a disaster.
