I loved that flick. At the end I was interested in the real story and was amazed at how closely they tried to stick to the source. The gear, clothes and even tents in the movie were close to the same as what the real climbers used.

the writers thought... hey how can we make more money? Spoiler: They made Jon Connor, the protagonist of the entire series, into a worthless antagonist. After T2 it was one big F you to the original audience. At the end of T2 Sarah says that life is not decided, that destiny is not real. Fate is only what we make of it implying freewill is real and determinism is not... then, in T3 they took a giant crap all over it and determinism is real. Then with Salvation, more turds. Genisys was more dirt on a body already 6 feet under.

It's the same as when Deadpool was mute or when Hulk was always angry. Destroying the core themes of a movie for the low level intelligence of new audiences ruined terminator.
