I am a sucker for the government secrets conspiricy style shows with loosely continuing plot lines. Now I would perfer a continuous story arc however the monster of the week with an underlying season long plot works okay for me.
I really like the casting so far and the show is fun to watch. But networks need to realize that we all have PVR's and can handle full year and multi year arcs.

The thing I didn't like was how cheesy and direct the people were in the show. There are elements that are great, but you don't need to be told what so and so are blatantly, leave a little mystery to the viewer to find out what they are.

Sadly it's the people who are watching live whose viewership determines whether or not the show is cancelled.

Can't the cable companies provide data on which shows are being recorded?
I suppose networks don't like those numbers, because those viewers skip the ads.

For some reason my wife and I watched this. Holy crap was it bad. Cheese-ball dialogue and terrible pacing, it looks like a crappy low-budget knockoff of Homeland (it even has Mike!). The casting of the lead actress was extra terrible...she should be in a teen drama. Even James spader is terrible. It is terrible, this show.
This might've been acceptable 10 years ago, but with how the premium networks have raised the bar on dramas the last few years, the major network shows are almost unwatchable.

While I liked it - it was one of the few premieres that I found myself paying attention instead of wondering what else was on.

It looks bad. Like finale season of Dexter bad. Big networks should just stick to laugh track sitcoms. Those are equally terrible, but are far less costly.

Amazing the differing opinions here. Like Table...holy. It was not perfect by any means, but so much better than a lot of the crap on mainstream TV. NCIS is the top rated drama on TV. I'll take this any day over that crap.

I agree with this. Really didn't like the pilot. I thought the main female character was terribly unconvincing.
And hasn't the whole "I'm gonna be late for my first day of work!" freakout been done, like, a million times before?

Good lord the acting is bad, Spader is just so cheesy I expect him to put on some sunglasses after every line he gives. And the lead girl is eye candy, but that's the total sum of her worth to the show
Networks just can't do good drama anymore. Lost was the last one worth watching

This is why I love British shows. They rarely care about looks and it really makes the show so much better. Imagine if Dexter just looks like an everyday dude. It's even more creepy.
The problem right now is that is it all one dimensional BS. There are hints that there will be more character development but that's only for three characters right now. This is because the broadcasters think you are stupid. If you put too much work into characters you become Firefly (cancelled)...

couldn't get past the first 20 minutes, too forced.
they can't just throw the whole girl/adoption/husband thing just in the middle of it. Who is she anyways?
The first episode really should be how "Lizzie" became a profiler and she's about to embark on her first day.
The episode should have ENDED with Spader walking in and then saying "I will only talk to Elizabeth Keen" dun dun dun

Broadcast pilots don't have that luxury, generally... they need to do a decent job of showing what the series will be like on a weekly basis.
