So My Cell Contact is Up... iphone 5 or Galaxy S3?
I just by default was going to wait for the iphone 5, but am now giving thought to the S3.
Things I use my phone for: - email
- music
- running apps
- track gas milage
- excel files
- facebook
- surf the net (CP) infrequently
- check the weather
Apps I'd want to have: - MLB
- Run Keeper or Nike's Running app or equivelant
- Zombie Run
- Dilbert
- Cyanide & Happiness
- Time & Chaos
- Card Star
- Plane Finder
- Flight Aware
- Flight Stats (I think they have one)
I also like being able to get accessories fairly easily.
I don't need fanboy passing matches but what suits *my* needs

Both phones will do exactly what you listed.. Personally I would wait for the 5 because I find hard to believe that Apple won't bring some sort of innovation over the current Samsung product in order to capture some more market share.. Comes down to personal preferance i'd say... if you can wait, u may as well see what the 5 has to offer if not the galaxy is a great product in its own right.

I'd wait until the iPhone 5 details comes out and see what it has.
Then compare the 2.
You can make a more informative choice then.

Wow you are from Cape Breton, crazy. I'd say wait if you are a fan of apple but the S3 can do everything you listed.
Were you with telus? Mine is ending too and I'm curious if they offered you anything.

Yep, there are a few of us actually (crazycaper, Shane, t@t, screamingeagle44, off the top of my head, mind you I only actually have ever (knowingly) met one.
I'm actually with Rogers (spent the last three years in Fredericton for school) and will be switching to either Bell or Telus when I do.
I was leaning toward iphone, as it's smaller, I like siri, and it's more main stream, thus accessories will probably be easier to come by.

Definitely will be easier to find accessories. Coveroo.com has a lot of great cases.

Get an iPhone 4 if you want smaller, cause all rumors point to the 5 moving in the direction of larger.

I'd definitely say wait for the Iphone. It's close enough now that it's worth waiting for.
However, for accessories, the Androids will always have IPhone beat. They all use universal accessories that also work with the Blackberries. Apple is supposedly releasing a new port for the IPhone 5, so even previous IPhone accessories won't work with it.

Will still be smaller than the S3. That beign said, I wouldn't let the size of the S3 discourage you. You get used to the bigger size very quickly due to the ergonomic design and the thiness.

The iPhone 5 is going to be announced on the 12th, but nobody knows how fast after that Canadian carriers will get it.
As for the size, I once thought I wouldn't like, as did Apple considering they went with 3.7inch on the 4S despite every single competitor going for the bigger screen size, but like me they have realized the bigger screen is a benefit and not a problem.

The size of the S3 was an issue with me for all of about 3 or 4 hours until I got used to it. It still fits in my pocket, I don't feel like I'm holding a tablet to my head when answering the phone (like the Galaxy Note) and the screen is just so damn gorgeous.

This.
Chances are the Canadian release of the iPhone will be in late sept with the US release, as that's the pattern that Apple seems to be adopting recently.

I bought a 4S three days before the S3 came out. Do I regret it? Sort of, because I just learned that you can download torrents from an android phone.
Wait until it's released before you make a decision.

If you want a S3 you should just buy a tablet.
Honestly just wait till apple announces what iPhone 5 will have.

I find you can do a lot more with an Android phone in general.

I don't know how anyone could make an informed decision until the iPhone is announced.

Over in the Android thread there are people living down into the file system, discussing compatibility issues with all the different hand sets etc. Stuff you never really do with an iPhone. I assume this is just people geeking out because they can and not something that every Android user needs to do? That would turn me off Android otherwise

Yeah, I kind of hate that the Android thread has become a Android tinkering thread. It makes it seem like using Android is like compiling your own version of Linux. There's plenty of customizing you can do without any rooting or installing custom ROMS and such. I'm a pretty big Android guy, but I don't root or install ROMs. The only thing I find them lacking in is taking screenshots, and that's been added in current versions.

If you get a phone like the S3 there is no need to do any of that. Most of us over there are running the original Galaxy S, so we're trying to get the latest updates on it. Once I get the S3(soon), I'll probably leave it as is.
Or not. I'll probably still root it and remove the bloatware and install SlimJB. I get up to 50% better battery life with a custom ROM.
