I didn't see the entire game, but I assume he applauded the young superstar for tying his skates before the game?
Uh, no. Mess ties Connor's skates for every game. Only he can get them just the right rightness.

He played nearly 22 mins. The key is just to play the hell out of him.

And how smart was McLellan for taking the time during the goal review to set up the next play? I am sure he is the first NHL coach to do that.

Heads up play! Haha. I think that larsson slash should get a look from the league. As Remenda said he got his money's worth on that one

22 minutes!? Those minutes rival top pairing defencemen ice time.

What was Crosby's average TOI his 2nd season?

As much as I hate to admit it mcdavid should get the hart since he's the only reason the oilers are in the playoffs. Mcdavid is probably responsible for almost half the goals the oilers scored this year and without him they'd be worse than Colorado

Fear not, friend. Nor be worried about not hearing more of Gretz and the glory days.
Here's the start of the AP preview for tonight's game:

The Edmonton Oilers, winners of five Stanley Cup championships and runners-up two other times, produced the most dynamic team in NHL history 30 years ago.

What is happening with them this year brings back memories of that Wayne Gretzky-led team.

The BJs pathetic power play was the reason why the Leafs won. Polak's major penalty went on longer because "the man advantage was extended to nearly seven minutes when Toronto neglected to put a player in the penalty box, but Columbus still couldn't score."

That was a gutsy effort by the Islanders to come back in the 3rd period as they scored 2 PPGs to take the lead and be victorious. The Rangers are struggling at MSG lately going 0-5-2. The Isles, just 2 points back of the last playoff spot, have success against the Rangers winning 3 of 4 this season. Lundqvist should be ready to play this weekend.

It was the first time in 30 days that the Oilers back up goalie, Brossoit, played in a game. He faced 16 shots in his relief appearance. Getzlaf with 3 assists and Lindholm had a goal and 2 assists. Have to say that Bernier has been playing well in net since Gibson was injured. Could this be a 1st round series? "Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano appeared in his 777th consecutive game, passing Craig Ramsay for fourth-most in NHL history."

I like that Oilers/Ducks game ended in regulation. We play two more games against the Ducks, so can use those to reign them back in.

A win today and a loss for the Oilers propels us back in 3rd place!

I asked my Oiler pal why they won't start Brossoit. "They don't want to showcase him. Surely the Golden Knights will take him in the expansion draft if they see how good he is."

Because being in a tenuous 3rd place position after a decade out = 80s multi cup team comparisons. It's a resurgent year, but man.. be real and just leave it at that.

Cripes the Flames were in their position 2 years ago and people weren't comparing them to the 88-89 team.

These losers don't know how to write about a winning season without going embarrassingly overboard.

Oilers pals are so much fun eh? I texted mine this AM with, "Hey, don't be too gloomy about that one. It's tough to beat a team that didn't have to play the night before. Really unfair."

There were times last night, especially when McDavid was getting a rare rest that I was humming the Harlem Globetrotters theme. That score really flattered the Oilers, and unlike the Washington Generals they're not due.

Of course its easy over the next couple of games with the Oilers playing a home and home series against the Potato's of Idaho . . . err Avs of Colorado.
