Default Iphone7 music management

This may be a really dumb question, but I have a new iPhone 7 with iOS 10 point something or other.

Is there a way to easily manage music via iTunes or some other free program? From what I can see it seems like the user is expected to manage everything via their phone, which seems inefficient for dealing with a couple of hundred songs.

Why would the software engineers design the phone to handle music this way? Seems painfully dumb.

You can manage your music using iTunes easily. I think you might be referring to Apple Music which is cloud based and you primarily use it from your phone.

In any case load iTunes on your computer, point it to your song library, sync the library to your phone by plugging it in and bobs your uncle.

I highly recommend having your media on a separate drive from your primary.
Setting up iTunes to this separate media drive on first installation will save you alot of grief going forward.

iTunes isn't my favourite application, but since Apple Music came along I've found it to be pretty solid. It's not great, but as far as managing a library of music you own + a cloud service of music you subscribe to, it's more than capable.

I have an old iPod classic, no wifi connection, no interface with Apple Music.

Seems so much easier to manage the music on it versus the iPhone.

I was frustrated and tired when I posted. I will have to spend more time
