Friedman is the best sports personality in the country IMO (in terms of thoughtful, intelligent, and accurate information...maybe not entertainment value). If it was anyone else I wouldn't care as much, but it would be a shame if we missed out on any of his content due to terrible misrepresentations.

The guy posts 6 word sentences, I find it difficult to ever figure out his emotional state. I don't know if anything he posts is ever 'clearly' anything.

Anyone that listened to the Burke interview today would know there's nothing to worry about.
Also, it was a misrepresenting thread title.
There's just nothing to be concerned about here.

You are fake news. Sad!

If this is the same title (honestly I can't remember because to me it was always a trivial argument) then I would defend it for sure because it's true. It's clear from that interview that he believed at that time Treliving may not be back. How could it be fake news when there was audio to back it up? If it was really "fake news" at the end of the days I'm pretty sure moderators would have done something about it.

I changed the thread title from:
"Elliott Friedman belives [ sic.] Treliving will not be back next season"
to
"Elliott Friedman believes Treliving may not be back next season."
I think this is a reasonably fair representation of the interview from Jan.

I think a better thread title would include a correct spelling of Friedman's first name.
But this is better.

IIRC Friedman's wording was more like 'I'm not 100% convinced he's back next season' (though I may recall incorrectly). Although the current thread title may not be technically inaccurate, I think it greatly overstates what he was saying. There is a huge difference between 'believing' something (even if you try to qualify it with may - it still implies you think it's a high probability) and being 'unconvinced' about it.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it had changed and it just goes to show you will never make everyone happy as to some that change is not good enough apparently.

So the season is officially over, I'm hoping the upper management guys don't pin the playoff disappointment on Treliving. Starting fresh with new GM now would be a huge detriment. He did his best to shore up the goaltending, it's not his fault Elliott turned in the one of the worst playoff (and early season) results ever. I sure hope he gets re-signed soon and his offseason list should include:
1.) Find a legit starting goaltender (+ new goalie coach)
2.) Get rid of Brouwer, pay LV an extra asset to take him.
3.) Try and acquire a top line RW. I love Ferland but he's just not that guy.
4.) Hopefully fill some other open spots by promoting within.

LOL Elliott Friedman bringing up the Treliving thing up again right after the game. He's really milked this.

he didn't do his best. he went cheap and hoped Elliott would rise up to the challenge of being a dependable and consistent #1.
doing his best would have been getting bishop, for example. even bishop thought he was going to Calgary.
you hope things don't get pinned on Treliving. some should be pinned on him. this is the goaltending tandem he chose, and he went out and signed Brouwer. who else should that be pinned on?
I wouldn't fire the guy though. plusses outweigh the minuses.
maybe he wants to leave to take over the family business, as his dad isn't getting any younger. who knows.

Except Brian Elliott was one of the best goalies in the League last season, and also did rise up to the challenge and played lights out during the stretch. I don't get how you pin him suddenly crapping the bed in the playoffs on Treliving. The goalie issue was solved admirably last summer. It didn't quite pan out, but there's no guarantee Bishop would have done so either.
Brouwer I agree with. That was not Trelivings finest hour.
