Tranmere finish the season disasterously.
Will finish mid-table

Season of two halves for both Tranmere and Bournemouth.
Here's the table at the start of October...
http://www.statto.com/football/stats...ble/2012-10-06
You were even top in the middle of January.
and here it is now;
http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2012-2013/table/2013-04-20
Shocking finish to the season for Tranmere - you've lost 13 out of your last 18 games!
Whereas Bournemouth have just set a club record 8th win in a row. And we've been promoted! First time in the second tier in 25 years (and only the second time in our history that we've been there). We are the Chelsea of the lower leagues - a bit of Russian money behind us.
Last game of the season next weekend for us - and it's at Tranmere. Party time! We'll win the league if we can win that one.

Brutal.
Their Reserves won 6-1 today. Bring up the youngsters at the end of the season, what could go wrong?

Latest Tranmere news...
If Bournemouth win the league on Saturday, Tranmere have banned them from parading the league trophy in front of their supporters.

Very disappointing given the amount of time spent at the top of the table this season, but ultimately its probably for the best.
I dont think Tranmere could really compete in the Championship at this stage.

Not as far as I'm aware... they're certainly not local rivals either.
It may be borne out of the fact that Tranmere have been top for so long and blown it in the last third of the season. Originally the decision was said to have come from the police, but they said it was the club's choice. The football league has seemingly backed Tranmere.
Although having been on a few Tranmere forums, it seems as though most Rovers fans wouldn't begrudge the trophy being paraded in front of them. Seems a bit crazy to me.
It will be interesting to see how many Bournemouth fans attend the game. We've only been allocated 2,200, but I imagine about the same number will try and get in the home end. I think we could have sold about 5,000 if there was enough room in the away end.

KEVIN MacDonald is not bothered where Swindon Town finish in the League One table now his side have secured themselves a place in the play-offs.
“We’re not frightened of anybody. It’s going to be difficult for whoever plays us and it will be difficult for us whoever we play as well.

The way I look at it; at the start of the season, I would have taken this position gladly....

Big game starting in a few minutes at Griffin Park. Winner take all for promotion between Brentford and Doncaster.
I'm disappointed I am not at the game. But I have been to quite a few already this year. YoouuuuBeeeeessssss!!!!!

Wow, someone upstairs doesn't like Brentford.
0-0 into the 90th minute and Brentford gets a penalty. Ball hits the woodwork, goes back downfield and Doncaster score to win League One. Brentford goes into the playoff which they have had very little luck in over the last 20 years. Supporters don't have any faith in promotion now.

And the Rovers (Doncaster variety) wins the match, gains promotion, and wins the Div 1 Championship with a 96th minute winner!!!! Wow!!!
The Rovers (Tranmere variety) holds Bournemouth to a draw to deny them the Championship. They still get promotion though so congrats to them
Final position for Tranny was 11th. Quite the freefall but I'd still have taken it at the start of the season.

Craziest end to a game. 95th minute penalty for Brentford to win promotion, Doncaster are looking at a playoff game against Swindon. 30 seconds later, penalty missed, ball up the end of the pitch, Doncaster score to win the league. Unbelievable.

So, as it turns out, Tranmere's decision not to award to league trophy to Bournemouth was irrelevant.

I know this is a Tranmere thread, but I thought I would post this here. I found it kind of funny:
Quote:
Leicester Bee was fleeced of £400 because of ‘that’ penalty miss but he still shook Trotta’s hand. How it took less than 48 hours for him to get his mojo back:
Having spent the last couple of days in a general haze of drunkeness to forget about “THE” penalty miss, I have woken up this morning feeling utterly defiant.
I feel I should apologise to the hundred odd people that I bored to tears on Saturday night in random bars around Waterloo station about Trotta, the penalty miss, and how Brentford were going to screw it up again at Wembley. These random people will have woken up on Sunday morning wondering why some exceedingly drunk man was on the “pull” muttering sentences such as “I’m stunned, in shock”, “the F*lham b*stard did it on purpose”, “I’ll never get over this one”, and “I need a hug, I’m so depressed”. In fairness, this huge black lady took pity on me and embraced be into her rather substantial bosom and I took solace in her ampleness. Bless her for making me feel 1% better on Saturday night.
