FC's 2013 NHL Draft Thread

Haha.
I see he is another little one.....already taller than Johnny at 5'9" listed at 130lbs.
Only 22 points in 52 games for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL....not quite JG numbers.
I see he looks to be going to BC next fall, to play with big bro.

If things hold true this could be a good year to have a couple first round picks.
9 Centers listed in the top 15 also mean it could be a good season to pick up that ever elusive top line center.

I'm going to guess Shinkaruk will go into the season at about 6'0 and 180 by the time he's finished his summer training.

he was also 16 in his first USHL season, Johnny was 17. I also believe little brother will be playing for Omaha again this upcoming season.

Madison Bowey (ranked 20th) is my cousin. Plays for the Kelowna Rockets, and lives about 40 minutes from me. I have watched a few of his games. Has great skating ability, good vision, and an above average defensive game. Played for Canada in the Czech Republic at the under 18's. This year will be a huge year for him. Second full season in the Dub and will be counted on as a primary defensemen on the PK and PP.

Our WHL scouts certainly like him. Good luck to him moving forward!

I have heard that Hunter Shinkaruk is a really awesome kid, has an awesome work ethic too. I think it is a shame IMO though his own teammate Jayden Hart (poor kid has the same name as a porn star) who is draft eligible for the 2013 draft also gets overlooked because of him. He is a big skilled two way Centre. I think this kid is going to have a really big year likely playing in the top six after the loss of some graduating players. I like him a lot as a sleeper for this draft.

Shinkaruk may be a very good hockey player, but a great kid I'm not so sure. A lot of my friends grew up playing with/against him and not one had a single good thing to say about him other than the fact that he's really good at hockey.

I was watching that special the other night too. McKenzie was saying that Monahan, while he's not going to go first overall, is the most well-rounded prospect in this draft.
If the NHL loses this whole season, the Flames have a really really good shot at a top-5 pick. Seriously can't miss with any of those first three players.

I have little doubt that the Flames will be picking something like 26th if we're locked out for the whole year.
