How petty are NHL officials? Why is this acceptable?

Friedman's comments certainly aren't going to help Gaudreau's case....

Forecheck causing problems for both teams, more so for the Jets. Energetic game but few clean attacks.

16 shots in the first for the Flames. Keep it up and we'll steamroll them.

So.... NHL refs are unprofessional and won't call the game by the rule book depending on who the players involved are? Is that the message here?

Seems to be the case and if you ask them why they aren't you're going to get a "whiner" reputation apparently.

Nobody saw Dubynk would be a good goalie? I did. I always said his numbers in Edmonton were impressive for that steaming pile of crap roster. I saw his positioning, saw his lateral movement and always thought he could be a legitimate starter in the league.

I wish they had scored on those chances. Feels like the game can really turn in favor of either team.

I'll be honest, I thought it was the slightest tap that Gaudreau got on his left leg. Not quite enough for a call in my opinion. He's being boned 90% of the time but there's definitely some noncalls which are fine because of the way he tries to contort his body while making plays as such a high speed. That ends up getting him out of balance so often even without a penalty from the other team.
Bottom line, I do agree with the Hrudy etc.

This talk about reputations johnny, seriously hasn't gotten a call in forever. I can see why he complained, it started in that first game of the season. He got hooked off the puck to have McDavid getting tapped and a penalty shot. The NHL is bush league, having watching/playing this for 30 years I still don't know what a penalty is. Make it harder to enjoy, all I can justify the complete non calls as a wideman factor?
