We could use Gillies today in the AHL... would be nice to sign him.

@MarkDivver: Nate Leaman: 'You’ve got to give UNH a lot of credit. They made some plays. Jonnie (Gillies) played terrific, particularly in the overtime.'
@MarkDivver: On PC's NCAA chances: 'Now your fate’s in other people's hands. . . . We have to wait and see. We played ourselves into that position.'

Harvard defeated Yale in double OT, which moved Providence into 14th in the Pairwise rankings. It looks like they'll be a bubble team waiting to see if they get an invite to the NCAA tournament.
That's unfortunate because they could wait a week and, depending on what happens, still not get in. If they're not getting in, it would be nice to know and Gillies could get signed now and help out Adirondack this week.
College Hockey News has a Pairwise simulator where you pick the results for next week's games and it will tell you where the Pairwise will land based on those results: http://www.collegehockeynews.com/ratings/yatc.php
I tried it with all the higher-ranked teams winning every game, and Providence made it in as the 15th seed. I tried it again with all the lower-ranked teams winning every game, and Providence just missed the invite by one spot. I tried a bunch of other scenarios, and most (but not all) end up with Providence getting in.
It is still possible for all four teams with Flames' picks to get invited to the tournament, but it requires both Michigan State and Colgate to win their conferences.

By my count he's gone 10/18, 11/19 and 11/19. I am just going off the stats posted on the board here but that's over 50% each game and cumulatively (approximately 57%).

Oops I was reading those wrong. I was reading the # of faceoff wins as the total # of faceoffs.

I believe in the Jays.

Meh, face-offs are overrated. Of the 10 worst face-off teams this year five are currently in position to make the playoffs (and the 2nd worst team at faceoffs is the NY Rangers who'd get the Presidents Trophy if the season ended right this minute).

The Hockey East Writers and Broadcasters Association named Brandon Hickey to their Hockey East All Rookie team.
However, the Hockey East coaches had almost exactly the same All Rookie team except they voted to put Brandon Montour over Hickey.

This is great. Montour is 2 years older and was a second round pick. Hickey is looking like an awesome find

College Hockey News has a tournament "probability matrix", where they ran 50,000 simulations for the games this weekend to determine which teams are most likely to get invited to the NCAA Tournament. The simulations used each team's record for the season to predict the winners of each game: http://www.collegehockeynews.com/rat...lityMatrix.php
In the simulations, Providence finished in the top 16 every time, but because of the automatic qualifiers among the conference champions, they only qualified for the tournament 92% of the time. So, it's still looking good for them to get the invite.
BU is a lock to qualify. Colgate has a very small chance to qualify without winning their conference, and MSU can only qualify by winning their Conference.

Rooting for Providence. If nothing else, I would love to see Gillies win a title before turning pro (if he does turn pro this Spring).

Just a heads up that TSN 2 will have the Hockey East Semifinals tomorrow and the Hockey East Finals on Saturday.
It looks like the BU game will be taped delayed on Friday to 9PM MT.

So far the early games today have been kind to Providence, they have moved up to 13 on the pairwise rankings.

Colgate leads their game 1-0 after 1.
In their Conference's other semifinal, Harvard pulled off an upset over Quinnipiac, the #1 ranked team in the Conference. Colgate was beaten badly in both games against Harvard this year, so the upset doesn't necessarily help Colgate's chances of winning the conference and advancing to the tournament.

Michigan State lost 4-1 to Michigan. Deblouw's season is done, they needed to win their conference tournament to go to the NCAA tournament.
