Man charged with alleged sex assault of 4-year-old at Rocky Ridge dayhome
The main reason I am posting this, is because the owner of the day home, Sue (name mentioned in article), is not co-operating with the police. Meaning, there is the potential that other families that have used this day home in the past will not be contacted by the police, and may have no idea that their child might have been abused as well. Facebook newsfeed moment: Please share this with anyone you know that may have had kids in care in that area.
Destroying the innocence of a child is quite possibly the worst offense one could commit.

The Calgary Police Service is working to contact a number of families with children attending a northwest dayhome, after a four-year-old child was allegedly molested at the site in December 2014.
On Tuesday, police announced they had charged 51-year-old Miles Jarvis Clark with sexual assault and sexual interference with a child under the age of 16.

Whatever the outcome of the allegations, this shows the dangers of a severe shortfall of licensed childcare in this city.

Yes. It says so right there.

Staff Sgt. Melanie Oncescu, of the CPS Child Abuse Unit, said the fact the childcare centre was unlicensed means police don’t know how many kids may have attended.

Not that it changes how disgusting this is, but I'm curious about the relationship between Clark and the owner?

Heads up to JonDuke, quoting the entire article is a CP no no. Could get the site in trouble, copywrite issues I think. Just quote a couple revelant spots, then link the article.

Not cooperating with Police looks really, really bad.

Oncescu said the owner of the dayhome was originally cooperating with police, but is now refusing to provide them with information on her clients, citing privacy concerns.

Privacy concerns of who? Pretty sure the parents would want to know if anything happened to their child.

Don't want to cooperate. Park a police car out front and talk to everyone who drops off a child. Problem solved.

And you'll be talking to no one. You think they're coming back?

Like I stated in the OP, the problem lies with possibly not being able to contact parents of kids who were formerly under this places' care to see if they were victimized as well.

Not entirely sure why an unlicensed dayhome would site privacy concerns? Are these the concerns of customers you weren't supposed to see in the first place?

I'm not sure I understand what you are getting at? Do you realize that in Alberta dayhomes or daycares do not need to be licensed in certain situations in order to provide care? Unlicensed does not equate to illegal.

I do too, and he attends daycare as well. Totally sick to my stomach right now.
Luckily he attends a highly regulated franchised/chain in downtown. They give us camera access to watch them all day. The ladies there are great, and very professional.
That is what makes me sad. We have the means and luck to be able to send my little guy there. Not many parents do. Like that thread a while back where a poster bought a former day home that was condemnable, and people kept showing up, some parents have no choice.
Lack of affordable daycare options that are professionally run should be a priority. Many parents both work to make ends meet. There should be no reason children and parents are forced to take kids to places like this. I can only imagine the poor parents emotional state right now. Probably haunt them forever.

I don't know if licensed or unlicensed makes a real difference. Child Preditors find a way. Hockey, Schools (heavily licensed with significant background checks), churchs, charities, etc all have had these issues.
