I saw that, and my first thought was for the cat: "Oops, did I do that?"

Take it back to the apple store, and say my MacBook Pro stopped working, and I don't know why."

This is a good time to preach the rule I developed for myself after driving away with a pair of $250 sunglasses on my roof:
Anything that goes on top of your car must also be accompanied by your keys. I got in my car once after loading it with a bunch of stuff and fumbled around looking for my keys. Popped my head out to notice they were on top of the car along with my iPad. That would have been pricey.

I've lost a coffee or two this way. I like your rule! Will use.

Luckily I have never been prone to putting things on my car roof.
And does your buddy realize that they make bags to carry laptops around in? I cannot fathom just carrying a laptop around like that, but maybe I am just strange.

I was down at the apple store in chinook changing out my iPhone cuz my speaker blew (when i dropped it) . The CSR I was dealing with said nine times out of ten, even if it is water damage or a cracked screen, if they will probably replace the phone or ipad whatever as long as it's under warranty. Haven't actually tried, but seemed authentic when he said it. Maybe that's just with iphones and ipads anyways.
made me thing twice about purchasing applecare anyways.

I did a slide show on power point for my sister-in-law's wedding, and I didn't have a laptop at the time, so I just figured I'd take my computer and borrow a friends projector. My computer fit perfectly into a suitcase, so I loaded it up, took it out to the car to put in the trunk, and realized that I had forgotten my car keys. So I left the suitcase behind my car and went back inside to get the keys. I grabbed my keys and wallet and then my wife asked me to do something. I don't remember what, but the task took long enough for me to forget why I was back in the house to begin with.
So I went back outside, hopped into my car, and backed down the driveway. I heard this weird noise, and then realized as I got to the end of the driveway that my computer was behind my car. Fortunately the suitcase was big enough that it didn't fit under the car and I just dragged (pushed) the suitcase down the driveway. The computer was fine, but the suitcase was pretty worn down.

One time camping I failed to notice buddy's girlfriend passed out in the back of my truck as I decided to do some rather expeditious exploring of McLean Creek...

At least you didn't do some expeditious exploring of your buddy's girlfriend.
