I have a 50" Sony SXRD rear projection TV (KDS-50A2000). I need to replace the projection bulb/lamp after five years of usage. The part I need is the Sony XL-5200 (made with a Philips bulb). If I buy it directly from Sony it will cost $300. I have searched eBay and other sites from Google that have them substantially cheaper. I'm worried that if I bought one of the cheaper ones, it wouldn't last long or it would be a cheap knockoff.

Has anyone heard of tvlampscanada.com? Does anyone know if they are legit?

If anyone has any advice on replacing my bulb I'd appreciate hearing it. Thanks.

Southland TV has a range of TV's they sell bulbs for, I'd check there as well.

Tv manufacturers always charge a premium for bulbs and IMO buying from a secondary source is better. I paid $80 for a bulb for my Samsung DLP online when the same bulb was $310 from Samsung.

We don't use the TV very much as its in the secondary room but the bulb has lasted 3 years already and the original only lasted 2.
