Finally, TB. "Hearing" VGK may take Garrison contract from TB. No details beyond that; not yet sure on incentive or anything firm, TBH.

I don't really understand why McPhee is doing any favours to these other teams. Seems kind of silly. Doesn't want to burn bridges? Wants quantity over quality?

He isn't doing favours for free. Teams are trading him picks/prospects, the two things a building team covers the most

Wow....they really want him gone.
Thats got to be a bit of a kick to the ol' ego. Your current team actively working to make sure you're the one to get picked.

Its not really a matter of doing them favours. They simply are telling teams that you need to give me a better deal then the player I would be selecting from you.
On the flip side, these other teams also have leverage on Vegas. They could have easily traded all their expansion problems away before the trade freeze which would hurt Vegas even more.

One #tblightning prospect that could be on the move today to Vegas is Nikita Gusev, per source. Has one more year left on KHL deal.

Would be close to a $5 million savings if the Bolts do move on from Garrison. Certainly money they could use if they're looking at their big ticket RFA forwards (Palat, Johnson). Also resources I would imagine Yzerman would like to pour into upgrading areas as he sees fit. Would open up ice time for younger guys that organization would like to see make the jump to full-time pro duty.
Garrison is definitely serviceable as a veteran NHL defender, but does seem to show his age a little bit more than the other 32-year old on the Lightning blueline (Coburn). Still has a boomer of a shot, but gradually becoming slower and does seem to miss about 10 games per season these days due to injury. Significant production drop-off in terms of points the last two years as well.

If gusev comes over that's a steal, I remember him in the WJC in calgary and he impressed me. Line mates with Shipachyov and Dadonov and high point scorer
