He would be on Jankowski's line.

I don't think being on a line together leads to mentoring as opposed to, say, teaching in practice, bunking on the road, having the kid stay with you for a season.
Plus I don't think much of Doan's character, so I'd rather have him not mentor our kids.

I'd be fine with Doan coming here.
If he wants to work as an usher.

I would pay to see that. It might actually be good.
As long as its not on the Flames I'm all for it.

Arizona Coyotes are parting ways with long time captain Shane Doan
Does Edmonton have room for him on their 4th line? I wouldn't be shocked if he became and Oiler or a Flame
EDIT: nvm on the Oilers, just heard Shane will never play there

Would probably push 2-3 fans down the steps per game.

Bush league play by a bush league franchise. Show the man some respect after giving you 22 years of his life. Classless.

I would have zero problem if we had a 4th line of Doan - Stajan - Iginla if the contracts were reasonable.
Quite frankly we needed a "Grumpy Old Men" shift of nastiness in many games last year, especially in the playoffs.

Huh? So they should offer him new contracts for the rest of his life?
If anything it is classy to let him know now they won't be re-signing him so he has time to consider other options.

Yeah. I don't get that attitude.
They offered him a job in the front office.
I think Doan may have trouble finding work on a contender.
He scored 27 points getting second line ice and PP time. What's he going to produce on a good team playing 10 minutes a night?
Not much I would assume.

I think some posters like to trash the Yotes at any opportunity. I hate that useless franchise but there is nothing classless about how they have treated Doan.
I don't see any team making him a contract offer on July 1st but he might be able to get a PTO somewhere considering the lost players to Vegas.

Wouldn't surprise me if a young team needing someone with more of a "mentorship" role signs him. I can't think of a team who would forfeit that roster spot for him, but you never know? Vancouver isn't young enough to need a mentor, Colorado to me is pretty stacked but wouldn't have room for a guy like that. I'm thinking New Jersey? Or would he even want to go there? Retirement seems likely.

Why keep it a secret? It would have been leaked eventually. They informed Doan over the weekend and then let their fans know after.

I just felt it could have been handled more professional than the way it happened. Just my opinion. Whatever.

What's the reason for this? I know they're just no good.
Maybe i just answered my question.
I honestly wouldn't mind Doan on a cheap 1 year deal on the Flames(if Brouwer or someone similar is taken & we miss out on a couple of the better RWer by trade/ufas)

I can't believe people here saying they wouldn't mind him here. We already don't have enough spots for some of our young guys knocking on the door and you want to bring in a washed up 40 year old who doesn't even play a clean game? F that.
