Strikes me as more likely poorplayites, he'll join JP Howell who is out with Left arm ####tiness.

I never really understand the term "contusion". Isn't that just a fancy way of saying bruise? Or is it a very general catch-all term that allows teams to say "look - he's injured, he has a contusion"?

Yes.

Also yes.

That's not to say you can't be out with just a contusion. A deep bruise is certainly something that could hurt affect athletic performance. But the timing of it (magically happened right when Pearce got off the DL) leads me to believe it's just an excuse to create a spot on the 25 man without having to DFA or option anyone.

Anyone know who has started the previous 6 games where we had an opportunity to hit .500?

It feels like its always one of our weaker starters or guys playing out of their spot (Biagini)

Yeah, you gotta think the DFA's are coming soon though.

Coghlan, Grilli and Howell to name names.

Maybe they're just biding time to see if the guys returning from injury aren't going to immediately re-aggravate their injuries, or maybe they're guarding against a big sell off if the team doesn't get on a roll, in which case they will need some warm bodies around to play.

Sure would be nice to get a look at Leblebjiban though.

The last 4 were:

Estrada (vs. Yanks)
Biagini (vs. Yanks)
Happ (vs. A's)
Estrada (vs. Rays)

The other two were way back near the beginning of the season.

Biagini actually had a good start, but Grilli came in and got the crap knocked out of him.

The other 3 starts were mediocre to terrible, Happ mediocre and Estrada 2 x terrible.

He also hasn't played in a while (Jun 7), so it could be a legit injury but not serious enough (like a broken bone) to deactivate him right away.

Don't think Estrada had a shot against the Mariners did he? He didn't pitch in the three games series last weekend and the Jays didn't have a shot at .500 after losing the first game.

Next 13 games against teams below .500 (as of now).

Of course, not a TON below .500, basically teams in the same boat as the Jays.

Have to make some hay here. After that the next 10 are against the Red Sox, Yankees and Astros...then the AS break.

Boy it'd be nice to see 8-5 at a minimum, but with this team who knows?

Struggling pitcher on the hill for the WS tonight, but he's usually tough, and he's a LHP so I'm sure he's stymie the Jays lol.

Yeah oops. Meant to put Rays. It was Estrada, but it was against the Rays.

Yeah Quintana is a tough nut to crack. He's much better than the numbers he's putting up are indicating this year.

@Wilnerness590: Gibby: Coghlan has been playing through nagging wrist soreness since he got hit vs. SEA a month ago. #Bluejays #Jays

@Wilnerness590: Gibby: "Pearce ain't playing second base. You will not see him there. Don't waste your breath, or mine." #Bluejays #Jays

He's a relatively hard throwing lefty. Jays eat that #### for breakfast. We'll touch him up tonight, and be at .500.

Could be, but Smoak and Morales destroy lefties (I was wrong when I said they didn't a few weeks ago). Oddly enough when I was in Seattle, I noted that Bautista can't hit lefties worth crap this year on the stats displayed (like .170 or something like that). I thought he used to kill them.

Blue Jays GM: No guarantee Travis returns this year (via http://thesco.re/theScore_App ) https://www.thescore.com/news/1303692

Quote
For now, the club appears determined to replace Travis with players already on the 25-man roster, having started Darwin Barney or Ryan Goins at second base in all seven games since he got hurt. Alternatively, the club could promote Jason Leblebijian from Triple-A Buffalo, where the 26-year-old has hit .304/.375/.502 with eight homers and 11 doubles in 60 games this season.

We know what we have with Barney and Goins.

Let's have a look at Leblebijian. Probably won't be any better at MLB level than those two, but what's the harm?
