US Russian relations deteriorate over Syria

I thought this would be good to separate things out as things continue to deteriorate in Syria.

I'm just glad that there was room for them to deteriorate. I mean, its nice to know that we're not quite at rock bottom yet.

Did they have good relations to begin with?

Russia recently invaded the Ukraine. The US has very strict economic sanctions placed on Russia. There's also that whole thing in Georgia.

If anything, I'd say the two were much closer to being on the brink during the Ukraine crisis or the Georgia crisis than they are now. If anything it looks like the USA and Russia are coordinating in Syria to take out ISIS. They won't openly state that as Russia is also allied with the enemies of the USA in that region and vice versa.
