Which is fine, I guess, but in their zeal to tell the story about the bridge I hope they don't lose sight of the REAL story, which is the story of the people crossing the bridge. Because that's what Clone Wars seemed to do so very well, and that it feels like Rebels is getting away from.

Very poetically put, and I agree. People are getting a bit too hooked into the whole, OMG I heard Hera's name, saw Chopper and the Ghost in Rogue one. But they weren't a key story of Rogue one.
The only way that would have happened is if we saw a shattered Ghost at the end of the movie.
I remember reading the book Gildenstern and Rosenkratz are dead, a book about two characters from Hamlet, and it was a great look at two characters from another book.
I hope your right in that the season isn't heavily constructed around a bit moment in the battle of scariff, this crew has to have their own story and their own ending.
I loved the Clone Wars, it was a great bridge and I feel that by ending it early like they did that we were left feeling a bit left down. We saw the start of the decent of Anakin Skywalker and his turn to the darkside, but another season would have really been able to cement some choices. We could have also seem what I think would have been some disillusionment by Obi-Wan, and the feeling of hopelessness in Yoda who I'm convinced knew that the end of the Jedi was coming and that they weren't going to see a victory in the clone wars.
While they had that excellent Clone Trooper episode arc in the final series, it would have been awesome to see the heartbreak of guys like Rex leaving the Grand Army while a standup leader like Cody deciding to stay.
It would have been great to see the resolution of the young Ashoka character and how far she fell and what she did when she left the order.
We do know that there is another animated series coming. I would expect that it will either take place concurrent to the events of the OT and be a different setting, or something to bridge ROTJ to TFA.
I would still like to see an Imperial centered series where loyal Imperials decide to leave the Imperial military.

Rumor has it she is the wolf we see in the trailer, there are some glyphs on the wall of the cave in the one scene that show someone with two tails on their head transforming into a beast.
Also a drawing of Yoda, whatever that means.

Filoni came out on Twitter and basically shot down the idea that Ashoka is the wolf.
Ahsoka has to die this season, otherwise where would she be for the next 40 years?

You have to ask the same question of Kanan and Ezra.
Remember Tarkin knows who they are and that they were Jedi.
Yet in ANH
Quote:
Governor Tarkin: The Jedi are extinct, their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion.
It makes sense that Tarkin didn't know about Kenobi or Yoda, they went into complete hiding. But Ezra and Kanan were on the front lines and Tarkin knew they were jedi.
The other question is what to do with Thrawn, he's become such a larger then life character, yet we don't see him in any Star Wars movies, I would expect that he has an Oh Crap moment as his ship blows up around him.

I guess its feasible that they can have Ahsoka ride off into the sunset, she's given up on the Jedi, given up on her former master and just wants to find peace inside of herself.
Ezra and Kanaan though have to meet some kind of end. I kind of hope they just Rogue One the whole lot of them, I never would have thought that was the way I wanted a movie to end but it... just works.

I remember that I got really crapped on when I posted on the Force.net years ago that the way that the clone wars should have ended was shortly after the rise of Vader, and we get a montage.
We get Vader fighting two un named Jedi on some far off world and killing them. Palpatine sitting on the throne with Tarkin and some other admirals taking instruction from him. Kenobi sitting in his hut on Tatooine with a sad look on his face. Organa chasing a young Leia down a hall way laughing. a 5 year old Luke playing with blocks and one rises in the air. And Ashoka spinning on a stripper pole at Toche station.

As expected that line between light and dark will be prominent in the 4th (and final?) season. Looks to be good.
I hope we see a fairly large step forward in terms of story line and some resolution in our many arcs. Looks to be a fair amount of Rogue One tie ins which I am fine with, I would love to see this end around where Rogue One picks up, them looking for Jyn Erso. I really liked season 3 so hopes are high.

We saw some links to both Rogue one and The Clone Wars
I don't doubt that they're going to have a run in with Krennic and his weapon Star Dust which has to be Star Dust.
We also saw Bo Katarn from TCW's briefly.
Is the path that they're talking about Kaanan and Ezra leaving the Rebellion since they have to be gone one way or another by the time A New Hope rolls around?
No clips of Vader in the preview either.
I expect that this whole thing has to end on a tragic note.
