Yeah but historically, winning the pennant was a huge deal and the regular season has always meant more in MLB. I actually have no problem with people celebrating a division win. The season is such a grind.

I think at this point, the locker room party is as much a league-mandated gimmick as anything else. However, there was clearly a different tone yesterday compared to the celebration from last year, obviously. I think yesterday the team used it as a chance to just blow off some stress and frustration from the last month.

Default Report: Blue Jays plan to offer Encarnacion long-term deal

Not really earth shattering news. Don't care what it takes but extent EE please. Get it done.

Quote:
Edwin Encarnacion's career-year appears to have convinced the Toronto Blue Jays front office that he belongs in their plans moving forward.

The Blue Jays reportedly intend to make a long-term offer to Encarnacion, according to Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball, who notes they plan to extend both Encarnacion and Jose Bautista a qualifying offer.

After spending the last eight seasons in Toronto, Encarnacion has expressed a strong desire to remain in the organization, but he did tell the club that he would not hold any contract negotiations during the season.

According to Heyman, the Blue Jays offered Encarnacion a two-year deal in the spring that included two option years and adds that while Toronto's offer will be competitive, it's not expected to blow him away and it isn't a guarantee that they won't be outbid.

Hey, that's great news if true.

I think EE will sign it too. He seems to love it in TO and appears to want to come back.

It will be interesting to see what kind of offers Bautista gets too. I wouldn't be surprised if the qualifying offer is about as good as it gets.

If they both come back though, I sure hope Joey Bats is the DH and EE plays 1st base with Smoak playing 1st when EE takes a day off and when Bautista gets a day off too. When JB gets a day off EE can DH.

Get those two back and shore up the bullpen and this team should push for the playoffs again next year with the starting pitching they appear to have.

Haha. Yeah it's so bad it's spilled over into the Jays thread.
