iphone without dataplan

Hey...is it possible to just get an iPhone without subscribing to a data plan? My 1 generation iPod touch is on it's last legs with regards to battery life. I was thinking of upgrading to an iPhone so that I can have my cell and MP4 player in one unit. However, I don't really need a data plan due to cost and the fact that I'm on the computer all day (and night) as it is. Thoughts? Anyone know?

Yes it is possible. The iphone4s from the Apple Store are unlocked as well so you can stick any sim card in there from any provider with any plan.

If you go with signing a contract, you can also get one without a data plan, but you may pay more for the phone than those who do get a data plan.

My wife has one without a data plan.

You should still be able to get the full discount if you have a high rate plan. The catch with Telus anyway is that your data/voice plan has to be over a certain threshold. There is nothing that says you have to have a certain ratio of each.

If you do a lot of long distance or day time calling, it might be worth it to get the increased voice plan and the full discount on the IPhone. Run the numbers.
