I don't know if I agree. Frankly 53 episodes is a pretty decent run. I only found arrested development after the fact.

it's more likely a result of bad timing. Ran at a time when DVRs weren't common place and tv was a different landscape.

No you're definitely wrong, Fox refused to put the show in primetime slots and almost never promoted it. Friends or Everybody Loves Raymond would have failed with how they treated Arrested Development, it bounced around in multiple different timeslots none of them anything close to a primetime slot. It was so bad that at times the actual fans of the show(such as myself) didn't know when they could see the new episode because Fox bounced it around so much, I'd tune in on Sunday to see it and it wouldn't be on. The only reason it got 53 episodes is because it got so many awards to the absolute confusion of Fox, in the third Season the plotline with how Tobias was dying because of his hairplugs was an allusion to how fox was killing the show.

Agreed. And all the hints at getting cancelled. This is all paraphrasing, but when Michael mentions they're only allowed to build 13 houses this year as opposed to the usual 24, and his dad says "Oh no, that's a terrible sign!" If I wasn't renting them and saw on the back that there were only 13 episodes in season 3, I never would've realized that was a subtle reference to getting episodes cut, leading to an eventual cancellation. Such a great show.

Michael: So, what's going on with the fundraiser?
George Sr.: Well, I don't think the Home Builders Organization is gonna be supporting us.
Michael: Yeah, the HBO's not gonna want us. What do we do now?
George Sr.: Well, I think it's "Show Time." I think we have to have a show during dinner.

I loved how before they got the cancellation notice Ron Howard makes another one of those subtle references and then says something like: "Seriously, please tell your friends about the show".

Ah, Mrs. Featherbottom, how I missed you.

This is terrific news if it actually comes together and the World doesn't end in 2012!

Can't believe no one's posted this yet...

New "Arrested Development" episodes coming to Netflix -ChicagoTribune

This is just another step in the slow destruction of the current cable/network system. And awesome news.

I wonder if Netflix Canada is going to have the rights as well. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the networks picked up the Canadian rights to it.

So we've now seen two cancelled Fox shows return in other networks/areas. Futurama to Comedy Central and Arrested Development to Netflix.

Netflix would be perfect for FireFly too, just saying.

I never watched the series when it was on, but the husband is a diehard fan and has converted me.

The DVD's were in our house so fast you could still smell the banana stand burning.

I don't think Netflix will get AR fans to sign up just for this; but AR might get some new converts who are already Netflix subscribers.

Yeah, this is the new episodes were talking about First Lady. I don't currently have Netflix, and if I don't by the time the new series start I will get it then.

House of Cards is a good addition too if it lives up to the hype.
