What was posted earlier leads me to want Laine no where near this team. I'm 100% excited for Puljujarvi if this team doesn't turn things around.

If (and I hope that's a big IF) the Flames continue to struggle and end up with a top pick, it's Matthews > Puljujarvi > Chychrun for me. Puljujarvi certainly fills the Flames needs best.

It will be very intriguing to see how the new draft lottery structure plays out this year. A few teams will be elated and couple could be really pissed off.

Its hard to imagine the Flames in the bottom 3 by end of season. So should work out for us.

Worst case scenario is drafting 3 spots lower than standings with best case scenario of 3 lottery tickets for top 3.

Jesse Puljujärvi would just about round out our core for this rebuild. Especially if one of Gillies or McDonald turns out.

A pile of scouting reports at the U18 Five-Nations in Switzerland last week. Some potential first rounders in the mix at the event:

Quote:
Clayton Keller, Forward, Team USA U18 (USDP)
Keller was arguably the best player in the tournament. He displayed his great vision and used it in combination with his accurate pass to set up plays. He played on a line with Bellows and Joey Anderson, the line which created the most offense for USA. Keller showed great puckhandling skills and smooth skating and was exceptional in tight space. Created offense in nearly each of his shifts and was a treat to watch, a highly intelligent playmaker.

Kieffer Bellows, Forward, Team USA U18 (NTDP U18)
Having Keller on his line to set up plays helped Bellows. He had a lot of scoring chances and used his elite shot, clearly the most dangerous and heavy shooter of the tournament. Was exceptional around the net and showed net presence in each game. Physically he was very competitive, strong on his skates and hard to move around. He played a decent two-way game and backchecked to eliminate scoring chances.

Where is Ty Ronning projected to go? He looks like he's going to be a great player. Looks to be similar to Brad Marchand/Max Domi.

Without knowing where he's projected I hope we can grab him with a second round pick.

Is he related to Cliff?

Funny thing is I actually posted about him and then he goes ahead and scored two goals with the goalie pulled to tie the game 3-3 and has a beauty assist in O.T.

Flames need a player like him.

New rankings day. Only one newcomer in the Top-30, but plenty of shifting beyond on the first three:

Quote:
Matthews continues to claim the top spot in the ranking, having retained his position from Future Considerations’ Preliminary and October rankings. The 18-year-old Lions standout has seven goals and 17 points in just 14 games this season with Zurich in the Swiss league. He was also named to Team USA’s entry for the Deutschland Cup but has been unable to play after sustaining a back injury that continues to sideline him.

Flames, in theory, would be projected to draft Tkachuk based on the rankings/standings.

Patrick Laine highlights from recent games. Didn't pick up any points in the video but wow. Keep in mind he is doing this against full grown men.

Reports are Laine is having a better year in Finland than Puljujarvi, he maybe set to skyrocket up the rankings

Not gonna get too excited on the draft this year I just hope to god that if Oilers finish bottom five Don't let them pick top three this year. That's all I ask.

Why?

I say, let's keep this side-show going as long as possible...I hope the Oilers get Matthews, for sure...it'll be hilarious!

Because sooner or later that gong show up north will evenutally get lucky. They do not deserve to be lucky. Nor do they deserve another top overall pick to ruin .I don't feel that's an unreasonable ask

But aside from that yea, that gong show needs to keep going as long as possible it really is the gift that keeps on giving too

Agreed on those three, but if it comes down to Chychrun I would look to trade down. Maybe trade the pick to the Canucks for a package of Boeser/Edler/1st

Toni Rajamaki hockeyprospect.com scout - TSN 1260 Nov 14
Talking Finnish Prospects for the 2016 draft
https://soundcloud.com/pipeline-show...rajamaki-nov14

RW Jesse Puljujarvi:
started the season off bad - lot of pressure
past month he has been playing amazing - can tell he is really enjoying the game
been one of the top guys on his team
he is a big guy, but actually not that physical even though he is a big kid
he skates really well - great technique and quickness
he can steal the puck with his great checking skills
he is not that physical - don't see him making big hits
not at all similar to Barkov or Rantanen - completely different
there has never been a good Finish player like him - he is unique

RW/LW Patrik Laine:
hard to tell whether Puljujarvi or Laine goes 1st - difference between the two is small
his potential is big
amazing amazing scoring winger
amazing offense skills
Puljujarvi and Laine are different type of players - really hard to compare
he has improved his skating this summer, technique is good but quickness is a concern at the moment
not a fast skater but that won't be a problem in the NHL
he is good around corners, really uses his size but like Puljujarvi won't lay any big hits
he uses his size better than Puljujarvi

in his opinion Puljujarvi is more likely to play in the NHL next season because of his skating ability
but it is hard to tell, both need to improve overall
both player's current contracts will allow them to play in the NHL next season if their respective NHL teams want them to

RW Ettu Tuulola 6'2'' 227lbs shoots R
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=123542
same sort of player like Laine - big kid who struggles with skating
decent technique but quickness an issue
amazing offensive skills - can handle the puck in the small places really well
quick release guy
great scoring instincts
could his size better in corners and around the net - lots of work still to do
conditioning maybe a concern - maybe needs to drop a few pounds. but not big problem
in a great environment right now, his dad is a former Finnish Elite League player so he gets a lot of great tips

D Tarmo Reunanen 6'0'' 180lbs shoots L
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=221513
offensive defenceman
not a big guy but good in his own zone
very smart on the ice - always doing great things with or without the puck
he is not strong enough to play in top league yet
reminds of Kimmo Timmonen

C/RW Sebastian Repo 6'2'' 190lbs shoots R
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=92192
passed over in the 2014 and 2015 draft
doing great at the moment - playing on the top line on a Finnish Elite league team
a big winger
great speed
quick release but can also be a great playmaker
took great development steps these past 2 years
could be a darkhorse in this year's draft

I wouldn't. I would take Chychrun and run. Having a legitimate blue chip defenceman prospect isn't likely the #1 priority for the Flames, but it is a hell of a consolation prize.

Take that any day.

No we don't really, he has some skill(not outstanding) but he's small and butter soft, he goes to the net but avoids the boards like they're made of the plague... unless he improves in spades he'll be a 3rd rounder at best.
