So after pulling the plug on Shomi Shaw is simply added streaming to their DVR devices? Wake me up when they have 4K.

'The future of TV' looks a lot like the past 20 years of TV with a new name.

Wait, is the only new thing this does is let you talk to your tv to change the channel?

Actually grabbed this today because online orders get a free install, and I'm still using the old ass Motorola boxes.

Funnily enough, I'll actually save money per month (like, 10$ a month for the 2 year term) over what I'm paying now for my granfathered service and internet 125.

Hopefully once the 2 year is up 4k will be available.

I find it endlessly interesting watching companies/industries with antiquated business models try to catch up with times... usually too late.

If you're gonna continually promote Shaw products/services on here (and nothing else) at least give us a deal

snooze - At least with gateway launch was $99.00 for 2 year plan not the bait and switch of $99.00 then 172.00 I will stick with just internet for now. Not really worth the hassles of being a beta tester for 2 years if you have the pay $135 bucks a month average.

Also looks like Comcast added a Netflix channel did shaw? Telus has had this for years

So it's the Apple TV Siri... but by Shaw. I'm going to go ahead and get expectations nice and low for this one.

When I googled the Comcast X1 platform it indicated that they rolled this out in 2013 in their US markets.

Seems Comcast are already releasing (or soon will be) the xi5 and/or xi6 models.

Does anyone know if this is actually a step forward for shaw? Or are they introducing 4 year old technology?

EDIT: Looks like comcast is still heavily pushing the x1 box and that the xi5/6 models might be for a different platform.

So basically it's a Gateway with a microphone? Wow is that underwhelming. Willing to bet the voice functionality will be awful too.

Does anybody use voice search on any device???

Shouting out commands to your tv seems like a ridiculous way to relax with a good tv show and 8 glasses of scotch.

Hey GWsurvey,

Why don't you go on the record one way or the other:

Shaw Employee or Not Shaw Employee.

Full disclosure will at least give a marginal amount of credibility around here, and maybe we can even ask you questions?

A non-response will confirm GWsurvey = Shaw Employee.
