You wonder what failing at suicide really must do to the ego of these already fragile individuals.
I once met a guy that tried to kill himself. He parked his Yaris, yes a tiny Yaris on the train tracks. Driver's side facing the oncoming train. He jumped in the back and had a few beers.

Ctrain is stopped on the tracks NB at 4th ave SW. Everybody is looking at the train and then stepping away. So either REALLY bad, or hopefully just mechanical.

And it's moving again. Had me worried, after the horn and he stopped I saw a kid ride his bike away- I thought there may have been another kid who wasn't so lucky.
One of my Facebook friends just posted that the train driver announced that they "made contact with a cyclist", but the cyclist rode away. I guess it couldn't have been that serious.

Oh, ####ing great, Now the city will probably want to build bike lanes along all the train tracks...

That makes sense from what I saw. Where everybody was looking was right where I had seen the kid on his bike. (And when I say "kid"- looked to be early teens.)
I just heard the longer than normal horn, looked up and the train had almost stopped at that point.
Happened at 8:15am this morning on the northbound train. I was on the farthest end of it, but if he had been hit at the crossing he flew or got dragged a good distance, didn't look to be moving at all either.
The amount of people collisions with trains in the past while is crazy.

Reason: Update
I can't believe how many people get hit by trains. You literally have to put yourself in danger. Its not like its a car.
By the sounds of it, he did.

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a collision earlier today between a pedestrian and a CTrain.
At approximately 8:20 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, police were called to Macleod Trail and 25 Avenue S.W. for reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a train.
Investigators believe a 53-year-old pedestrian hurried across the tracks as a northbound train was emerging from the tunnel. According to witnesses, the man appeared to be looking at the train and running to get across the tracks in front of it, from Macleod Trail towards the Stampede Grounds.
The train operator attempted an emergency stop but was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian. All safety equipment at the intersection was in working order at the time.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this collision.
Witnesses say the man appeared to be looking at the train and running to get across the tracks in front of it.
Another completely preventable incident. I'm not sure what people are thinking when they run accross the tracks while the signals are going off (or even looking at the train itself!)
EDIT: Beaten to it by jar_e

Regardless of pedestrians putting themselves in harms way, level crossings would solve much of this problem plus alot more.
People using their brains would help a lot too. People thinking the can out run a train is a lot of the problem.
People can say " If only it was this way" but that's not the problem. Its people not thinking and using their heads.
Edit: Its one of my biggest peeves. The only way a train can hit you is by going in front of it.
Unless you put yourself on tracks you won't get hit! Barring someone pushing you or the train jumping the tracks . I see so many stories around the world of people walking on the tracks and getting hit.
