Tattoos should hold some meaning or significance with the tattooee (that was fun to type.) That said, they should also be tasteful and well placed. I'm personally not a fan of hand or face/head tattoos. Other than that, fly at it.

I finally found a tattoo that I am very interested in.
It's significant since it's a Viking tattoo (Nordic Wolf). I wanted to honor my Icelandic ancestry. I've also mainly enjoyed working outdoor jobs (land surveyor, tree planter, line locator- all "lone-wolf type jobs). If anyone can recommend where to get the work done (tattoo parlour), and approx how much $$ this would set me back (I assume there are tattoo artists in the house), it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This guy made a massive mistake. He didn't leave room for the three other jerseys the Canucks will have in his lifetime.

I just had a 3/4 sleeve done. It was 17 hours in total spread out over 4 sessions. Cost is obviously going to depend on where you go but for a big piece like that you should definitely search for a very talented and skilled artist which means paying a higher hourly rate ( $175-220/hr is kinda standard for top notch work in the city). My artist was Damian Robertson and he is insanely talented but I don't think he is taking new clients right now. I would check out the crew at Electric Grizzly in Canmore. Damian used to share a shop with them and the folks who work there are amazing artists. They have an Instagram page with a lot of their work.

Sound wave tattoo!
free image hosting
You record a sound bit, tattoo the corresponding wave and then an app on your phone scans the tattoo and plays the sound. I'm totally getting one...before they become skiddy.

I got my wife a sound wave print of our son laughing, came with a QR code that you can scan to hear the sound. I don't think there is an app the scans the sound wave, you may need a QR barcode?

ALL ABOARD!

Won't the eventual bleed or fade of the tattoo significantly change the "sound" recognized by the app? What happens when they no longer update the app or it's removed from the app store or there isn't an app store anymore?
I saw this post about tattoos as they age. Something to consider when you're relying on a really detailed tattoo to hold up over time.

YOLO bro...

But I have no idea if they last. It might be funny if the sound changes as it ages.

Neat that it scans the wave instead of a barcode.
I'll stick with the print to hang on the wall though.

And really, if you're going to get a soundwave tattoo, there's only one acceptable option:

Mine are all heritage related. The first is Queen Jelena of Zadar. She was the first sovereign of the Kingdom of Croatia and is a national symbol for mothers, widows and orphans. It's sort of a 2-in-1 because she is also sporting a traditional Croatian tattoo (tattoos have a long history in Croatia, especially among women).
The second is a kuna. It's a fisher or martin-like animal that is the national animal (like the beaver for Canada).
The third is a national motto attributed to an author and artist that translates to; "As long as there is heart, there will be Croatia".
I have a whole list of things I want to get. In the background behind "srca", I want to get a sacred heart.
On my other forearm, I want a fawn and stag comb with my daughter's birthday under it (he name is Fawn). Either in black or water colour.
On my other shoulder, I want this symbol (it's from the sarcophagus of a medieval saint). But I want the birds and flowers brought to life. I wish I had unlimited finds, I wouldn't stop.

I was watching Lock Up: extended stay last night cause it usually makes me feel a bit better about be bored on a Friday night...at least you are not in jail right? And I found out the tattoo I got after a summer of rock climbing in Yosemite Valley when I was fifteen is actually a prison tat. There's a boulder in camp four named midnight lightning...someone painted a lightning bolt on it. I climbed it without knowing it was iconic and difficult. Beginner's luck. So I lied about my age to a tattoo artist in Sacremento and have been sporting the midnight lightning bolt on my back ever since. Now, I've just learned Arian Brotherhood members get lightning bolt tattoo's when they kill someone of a different race. The goal is to kill two people so you can get two lightning bolts that look like SS insignia. So...that was my Friday night.
