Whatever happened to BB guns? Why do kids need to use full calibre rounds ever? You want to teach your kid to shoot? Use an airsoft gun, use a BB gun. Even then I would think twice. Haven't these people ever seen Christmas Story?

Had a patient come in once at Christmas time with a horrific eye injury from a bb gun. They got it for their son and after opening it he decided to clean the barrel with a Q-tip. Gun went of and shot the Q-tip straight into her eye. Eeeewwww
Firing an automatic weapon teaches children the difference between their video games and the real thing, Bill Regenhardt, spokesman for The Range 702, told ABC News.
"It's an eye opener for them to see the difference: this is not a toy, this is not a plastic Wii gun. It's heavy, you have to really be mindful of what it does... A lot of times it's an eye opener for the parents as well," Regenhardt said.
For the most part, Regenhardt says that after their first time with automatic weapons, children get hooked.
I mean the bolded part more or less sums up why America is so ####ed with gun violence. Maybe get kids hooked on reading or excercise before automatic weapons.

I'm 43 years old, have been shooting since I was 10 or so probably and I have absolutely no desire to fire an automatic weapon. They scare the hell out of me.

Fired a machine gun while in the reserves. That was pretty neat but I didn't consider making it a part of my life. I grew up around guns, started with a cork gun, than a BB gun, got a 22 at ten years old, done some hunting and skeet shooting but never had a desire to carry on with it.
