I don't like the idea. Flames already got all of Iggy's best years. Don't need him back reduced to a depth player.

If he is capable of playing NHL hockey, I'd have Iggy on my team any day (insert obligatory comment about 'for right term and money').

For the right term and price, a thousand times yes. He can still shoot the puck with the best of them. The rebuild is over, and he wants to go to a contender. Arguably, we can be considered a contender. This is the storybook ending he, and the city needs

With engeland gone, we need some toughness. Iggy at least sticks up for his teammates and can chip in for a few goals.

In the minute chance Iggy comes home, there's no way he's a first line player and just say no to Doan. One of the most overrated players ever

If we loose Versteeg to the highest bidder I think it's a no brainer Iginla would be the perfect replacement. Bring him home!

Jankowski would make more sense.

Iginla would be a fantastic add for this team. He can play up and down the line up and is a force on the powerplay. He brings tons of grit and leadership. Would even prefer him over versteeg.

I think ferland will do great on the gaudreau-Monahan line this season. But Iginla will be a great option if that line (or any line really) needs a change at any point in the season. He's the perfect complimentary player for a team ready to take the next step.

This team is poised to improve next year but to me it still feels like it needs another spark to become a contender. I don't think any of the other free agent wingers that people are talking about (Williams, Vrbata, etc.) bring that element. I think Iginla can bring that along with depth production. I don't think any of those other guys will bring the excitement/momentum that Iginla will bring.

Bring Jarome Home.

Iggy > Brouwer, it's simple.

Im cool with the idea. From a fans perspective of course. But it would have to be at a really low dollar with 3rd or 4th line RW expectations. So I call it doubtful.

Ferland (natural LW, utility forward but still has upside to be more)
Brouwer (bad season otherwise good middle six player in his career)
Lazar (management sees him as a third liner long-term, also play center)
Chiasson ( lots of posters saying not to offer him a contract, was actually quite good in the bottom 6)
Tkachuk (plays LW but has played RW has the most upside and skill of all wingers not named Gaudreau)
Versteeg (versatile skilled player, not under contract yet)

Don't see where Iginla fits here, he's not top end anymore which is the only RW we need. Personally I see him as a grinder at 5 on 5 with the skills to score on the power play. Doesn't bring much offence at even strength or defence really, but plays physically. I see him being more valuable to other teams.
Of the players you mentioned, Brouwer, Lazar, Chiasson and Versteeg are right handed shooters. Of those, Brouwer, Chiasson, and Versteeg are natural right wingers. All the others are left handed shots and natural positions are left wing, with the exception of Frolik who was a natural center but is placed as a right wing but also plays all 3 forward postions.

So, if you're talking between Brouwer, Chaisson, and Versteeg vs Iginla, there's no doubt in my mind Iggy IS still the better right winger over the 3.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Frolik - Backlund - Brouwer
Tkachuk - Bennett - Iginla
Lazar - Jankowski - Foo
Stajan, Hathaway/Bouma

Just kicking the idea around.
Tkachuk - Bennett - Iginla: Wouldn't be the fastest line but I don't imagine there would be many teams looking forward to defending against them on the cycle. Bennett's speed, Tkachuk's play-making and Iginla's finish could be the recipe for an effective line.
Lazar - Jankowski - Foo: Looks intriguing to me as a fast and skilled fourth line. With Backlund's line doing most of the heavy lifting defensively and Gaudreau attracting the top defensive players of other teams, I think this might be a sneaky good line to put out against other teams bottom six and bottom pair D.

You've got Iginla, Brouwer, and Ferland providing a bit of bite on the other lines.
