Over-rated
Versteeg as anything more than a third line player.
Widemans D is horrendous but his outlet passing and shot is far to inconsistent and should be considered a slow footed over-rated player.
Grossman as anything more than a AHL over the hill slow ex NHL Dman.
Ferland when he is not contributing as a physical disturber is over-rated but he easily has the ability to change that to be more consistent in that area and I think he will.
I used to think Backlund 2 seasons ago was over-rated but he has proven his doubters wrong several times. Backlund has emerged and physically matured into a Quality 2 way Center.

Do we rank defensemen on the number of goals they score a year? It's also the first time he's played a full season in 5 years.

Overrated? Easy question. The whole team. I still don't understand why so many people here thought the Flames would be a for-sure playoff team and maybe even a contender within a year or two. This team is hot garbage and our GM just hired a trash coach with no system or special teams experience. Not to mention the massive contracts he gave to "star" players that will saddle this team for many more years. In our imaginations Johnny Hockey, Monahan, and Bennett are the next Kane and Toews, but in reality they are not even close. We have some decently skilled players who think too highly of themselves and their abilities. They don't play as a team and they lack grit, character, and determination. Back passes, deking through 3 players, and over passing are just some of the problems. As the games continue, I find Johnny becomes more one dimensional. I hope I am wrong/overreacting and the team finds a way to turn it around, but my gut says they won't or at least they won't until it is too late (like last year).
I'm finding the product the team puts out rather boring win or lose. I'm also having a tough time watching games or even caring anymore. For the prices they charge I'm glad I don't have season tickets because right now they are not worth the price of admission. You want to watch an entertaining team? Watch the Stampeders. Unfortunately this city thinks too highly of themselves and they feel the CFL is not up to their standards. Sad.

I said Brodie, very specifically, by this board.
I agree with you he's very underated, across the league, by other fans, media etc... I also think he's our best value contract, so he's our best value for money player.
None of those things stop him from being the most overrated player by our own fan base. People on here think he's way better than he is, to the point that whenever he screws something up, the whole board is scrambling to figure out how someone else on the ice can be saddled with the actual reason he screwed up.

It tells me that Hockey Canada isn't interested in bringing the best players.

Deryk Engelland - he is our 6th maybe 7th best defenceman at best. But people think he is better than Hamilton because of "grit"

Do people really think that? And if so - how many?
I don't think this is a common viewpoint at all.

Wins are overrated. Sure the team would do well with more wins but where would the fun in that be? When the team loses this place becomes a lot more interesting and fun to watch. When everything is going good, it gets boring lol.

I said this a least week. There's a lot of good defensemen that get left off Team Canada but Brodie in particular is at the age where you would think they would want him as a staple for future tournaments. Eliot Friedman said on 960 last year that one GM told him that you look at the Flames GAA and they just don't feel they play the type of game Team Canada looks for.
