GAME 3: STAMPEDERS at Winnipeg
Calgary Stampeders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Investors Group Field
Friday, July 7 Kickoff: 6:30 p.m. MDT
TV: TSN, ESPN3
Stampeders defeated Ottawa last game in the back-to-back game 43-39 at McMahon Stadium. Blue Bombers also won last week against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in an overtime 43-40. Bombers had a bye in the first week of the season before playing Saskatchewan in Riders first game at the new Mosaic Stadium.
Catching two touchdown passes – including an 87-yarder – was Weston Dressler while defenders T.J. Heath and Sam Hurl each came up with an interception thrown by Kevin Glenn.
OFFENSE:
Lemar Durant, a third-year product from Simon Fraser, recorded the first 100-yard receiving game of his career for Calgary last week. QB Bo Levi Mitchel had a solid game throwing for 295 passing yards. He was good in the first half but offense sort of disappeared in the 3rd quarter mostly. Look for Jerome Messam who normlly play well against the Blue Bombers to have a good night tomorrow. Messam was just okay last week rushing for just 59 yards vs Ottawa.R Kamar Jorden scored a couple of TDs vs Ottawa nd another receiver rookie Marken Michel scored his first TD on his first catch in his fist CFL career game. He was good earlier but him and Bo Levi Mitchel had problems connecting in the 2nd half.
DEFENSE:
Calgary's DLine group were hobbled by injuries. Luckily some are just minor injury. DE Charleston hasn't practice this week and might be a game day decision. Micah Johnson missed Monday's practice for maintenance but he will be in the lineup tomorrow night. Micah Johnson had a great game last week sacking QB Trevor Harris three times and was a force all night. MLB Alex Singleton also had a huge game with 6 tackles but was all over Ottawa's offense during the game. He was so good in the game and that was the reason why Ottawa made a lot of changes on their offense during the game. Secondary especially Joe Burnett had a rough night giving up some big plays after big plays. Tomorrow night they will have a huge task in stopping Weston Dressler. Dressler caught tow touchdown passes against his former team last week. He usually plays well against the Stampeders so we'll see how the DBs handle Dressler. I am betting they will put Wall or Evans against him all night.
SPECIAL TEAM:
What is wrong with K Rene Paredes is the popular questions the last two week? Paredes also struggled early last season missing some converts and some easy field goal attempt. I am pretty sure he'll sort out his problem soon. Returner Roy Finch will be sitting out his 2nd game due to suspension so looks like we will see Terry Williams and Tunde Adeleke, who scored his first TD punt return doing the punt return duties again.
************************************************** *******
It looks like the Stampeders will make 7 changes in their lineup tomorrow night. Rookie DL Randy Colling(might see action on OLine), DaVaris Daniels, Rory Kohlert, Ante Milanovic-Litre, Wynton McManis, Osagie Odiase and Aston Whiteside will be added. Shane Bergman, Jarrett Bush, Pierre-Luc Caron, Charleston Hughes, Marken Michel, Marvin Ross and Adam Thibault will be out of the lineup. Most of these players got hurt last week. #NextMan Up I guess.
GO STAMPS GO!!!!

The massive injury list has me worried about this one, Winnipeg is a very physical team and could really take it to us. Hopefully another exciting game with the outcome up in the air until the last play!

QB sack by Malik Harris. Claybrook is sending his linebackers to go after Nicholls. In the last two plays Shaq Richardson came close in sacking Nicholls then the next play Harris got him.

I'm sick of Anthony Parker and his continual case of the dropsies. Sure the ball was deflected a bit but it hit him right in the goddamn hands. I could stomach it for his first couple of years, but he's gotta be in his 5-6 season now and it's an issue each game.

This is the most competent I've ever seen the Bombers against the Stamps this early.

You drinking? He was clearly juggling it on the second angle. I was just about to post about how stupid Suitor sounds when he refuses to admit he is wrong.

He was juggling the ball and then caught it and put a foot down on the endzone stripe. Like I said, not even close.

Damn sometimes Glen Suitor can be annoying. Randle doesn't have full control of the ball when he's got his first foot down. He was already out when he got the control. Even Randle didn't say anything.

I think the Stamps might have stopped him.
Edit: Turnover on downs.
