Default GAME 1: STAMPEDERS at Ottawa

First game of the season against the team that beat them in the Grey Cup Final. Revenge? Some of the players doesn't think so and they thought what happened last season was the past.

Game Time: Friday, June 23 @ 5:30pm
Televised on TSN, ESPNEWS

OFFENSE:
QUARTERBACK: 19 Bo Levi Mitchell, 15 Andrew Buckley(NAT), 12 Ricky Stanzi*
--- Buckley takes over the #2 position behind Bo Levi after Drew Tate signing with Ottawa. QB Ricky Stanzi beat out Mitchell Gale as #3 position. Gale played for Toronto Argonauts a few seasons ago and Saskatchewan last season after Durant went down with the injury. Mitchell is coming off from being named Most Outstanding Player last season.

RUNNING BACK: 33 Jerome Messam(NAT), 14 Roy Finch, 26 Rob Cote(NAT), 23 William Langlais(NAT), 46 Charlie Power(NAT), 21 Anthony Woodson(NAT).
--- Roy Finch will be use more often as a running back now that Tory Harrison is gone.It would be a good combination to have Messam, a power runner and Finch, a slick runner. Stampeders added former Dinos Anthony Woodson to the lineup and he'll be count as Messam and Finch backup. Import Terry Williams made a great impression on the last pre-season and is currently on the practice roster.

OFFENSIVE LINE: 60 Shane Bergman(NAT), 53 Brad Erdos(NAT), 65 Dan Federkeil(NAT), 68 Randy Grozsman(NAT), 63 Pierre Lavertu(NAT), 59 Randy Richards, 58 Cam Thorn(NAT), 61 Ucambre Williams, 50 Spencer Wilson(NAT)
Injured: 69 Quinn Smith(NAT)
--- Stamps lost a lot of linemen last season due to injuries but it didn't really affect them. Quinn Smith has been switched to Offensive Line from defensive Line position. Smith played sparingly as an Offensive Lineman last few seasons and has been very good asset for the Stamps. Ucambre Williams tried and played as a Centre last pre-season game vs Eskimos. Coaching staff seems to like what he did in that game that he might start as a Centre again vs Ottawa. C Pierre Lavertu is still questionable for the 1st game. International OL Derek Dennis left the Stamps and signed with the Riders this off-season. Stamps brought in a few International Offensive Linemen in the training camp but only 3 of them are still with the team (Williams, Richards and Justin Renfrow, who is currently in the practice roster).

RECEIVER: 16 Marquay McDaniel, 89 Davaris Daniels, 88 Kamer Jordan, 1 Lemar Durant(NAT), 82 Juwan Brescacin(NAT), 86 Anthony Parker(NAT), 81 Jarret Boykin*, 87 Rory Kohlert(NAT).
---- Rookie Boykin made a huge impression with the coaching staff and there is a possibility he will be in a lineup. Stamps are pretty rich with Canadian receivers this season and definitely see more playing times this season. We will definitely see a lot of Durant and Brescacin this season as they were very impressive during the training camp. Look for Kohlert having a good season too this season.

DEFENSE:
DEFENSIVE LINE: 39 Charleston Hughes, 4 Micah Johnson, 95 Ja'Gared Davis, 97 Derek Wiggan(NAT), 92 Bryan Hall, 71 Michael Klassen(NAT), 96 Randy Colling*(NAT), 94 Kashawn Fraser*
Injured: 7 Junior Turner, 41 Cordarro Law.
---- Junior Turner hasn't been on the field this season so far due to injury he sustained from late last season. DE Cordarro Law hurt his ankle early in the pre-season game vs the Eskimos. There is a possibility that he won't be back until the middle of the season. Stamps drafted a much older defensive lineman Randy Colling expecting to see Turner missing some games early this season. Quinn Smith has been moved to Offensive Line. Stamps added veteran linemen Bryan Hall and Calgarian Michael Klassen in the off-season. Ja'Gared Davis was great last season and actually played most of the time as a Defensive End before Cordarro Law came back late last season.

LINEBACKER: 49 Alex Singleton(NAT), 37 Maleki Harris, 40 Derek Janke(NAT), 24 Joe Burnett, 56 Jameer Thurman*, 52 Riley Jones*(NAT), 20 Beau Landry*(NAT)
Injured: 42 Deron Mayo
---- It is time for Maleki Harris to shine. It looks like Mayo will be sitting out the first game and maybe more while recovering from injury late last season. Glenn Love signed with the Riders in the off-season so look to see Jameer Thurman playing with special team and some odd linebacking position. In the pre-season, looks like Singleton is much improved player and looking forward in seeing this guy dominate the line.

DEFENSIVE BACK: 11 Joshua Bell, 25 Tommie Campbell, 0 Ciante Evans, 32 Osagie Odiase, 35 Shaquille Richardson, 2 Adam Thibault(NAT), 28 Jamar Wall, 31 Tunde Adeleke*(NAT), 48 Marvin Ross*, 17 Jarrett Bush*
Injured: 28 Brandon Smith.
----- Dickenson only confirmed that Brandon Smith will miss the game against Ottawa. Both Jamar Wall and Tommie Campbell are pretty banged up but DD is very confident that they will both play. Ottawa native Tunde Adeleke will be debuting his career in front of his family and friends in Ottawa. Josh Bell been named as Defensive captain by the players this season.

SPECIAL TEAMS:
30 K Rene Paredes(NAT), 6 P Rob Maver(NAT), 54 LS Pierre-Luc Caron(NAT).
----- Stamps will have more options as a returner this season. Finch was very impressive last season and looking to match last season's performance this season. They drafted one of the fastest secondary Tunde Adeleke this season and he was very impressive during the training camp. Unfortunately they lost one of their best special team cover and blocker in Glenn Love and Adam Berger in the off-season but I am sure someone can replace them.

************************************************

Looking forward for the new season and hopefully the Stamps will repeat their success from last season with addition to winning the Grey Cup.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

I can't wait for this season to get started as I'm tired of flipping through TSN channels only to find the replay of last year's Grey Cup game which immediately puts me in a bad mood.

GO STAMPS GO!

DB Brandon Smith, DE Cordarro Law, OL Pierre Lavertu, OL Roman Grozsman, LB Deron Mayo and RB Anthony Woodson are injured and will not play tonight.

DB Tommie Campbell will also not going to be in the lineup tonight. Dickenson says Campbell is not injured. It is coaching decision and he thought Campbell needs some more practice.

That TD was so similar to the Grant TD last night. Although this time, it was a TD.

2 big mistakes so far:

2nd and 2 on midfield and they take a shot downfield instead of getting the first down.
DD accepting the penalty and making it 2 and 12 instead of declining and making it a 3rd down.

O needs to wake up.

picked the right time to watch the game. Wall recovered a fumble then Bo Levi threw a TD pass to Lemar Durant. We can still win this game.

That was close the knee was 1mm or less off the turf when the ball was starting to come out.

Where do Stamps fans post these days? It's clear Calgarypuck has kind of ditched Stamps discussion, (it used to be awesome during the 50-150 post game thread days) but I'd like to see some game discussions this season, especially for an awesome game like this.

Heading to overtime after two excellent touchdown drives in the last six minutes.
