Flames are 1-7-0 in their last 8 meetings with the Blues.

Blues are currently on a 6 game winning streak.

Yay some hockey tonight. I'm excited for that.

I'm of the firm belief that adding a top ranked 18 year old this summer won't change this team around. That's why I don't cheer for losses.

There are problems that need to get fixed from within the dressing room, and from the GM's office. The past few weeks, the Flames have shown what kind of a team they can be and they need to continue building on this. I hope to see a Flames team that trends upwards in all areas from now until the end of the season. I think the universe will reward that.

Last season we got Dougie out of the draft. Pretty good reward for being in 15th draft position.

Up in Edmonton for a course this week. The city is covered in a haze I can only assume is from the huge tire fire. And the guy in front of me has an epic mullet.

I'm hoping watching the game tonight will help me ignore the Oilers stink for a few hours.

You do know that Calgary is usually covered in a haze too, right?

#Flames lines today:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland;
Agostino-Backlund-Frolik;
Bouma-Jooris-Colborne;
Bollig-Stajan-Hathaway

Looks like Ferland, with his 12 points in 57 games, are on the top line again.
Always earned, never given.

I don't think there are many options right now. They want Frolik with Backlund so they actually have a line that can play against others big boys.

What would you suggest?

8-1 Blues. Monahan from Gaudreau the only goal. Tarasenko hat-trick.

Well you don't split up Backlund and Frolik. So would you prefer Colborne?

I'd prefer Laine, to be honest

Calgary's haze feels more like a warm blanket.

There are literally no other options. Colborne is the only one who is close but he doesn't work well with Gaudreau IMO. That bottom 9 almost looks like an expansion team.

Ferland brings a defensive and forechecking element to that line that's sorely needed. Pucks haven't been going in for him, but they'll start going in eventually because the chances are there and he's got the quick, hard shot to capitalize on the chances.

Not that anyone on CP seems to really care, but Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland is a 55 CF% line this season. So while the results aren't there, the process is evidently showing signs. I'm sure that's what Hartley sees too, a line that's controlling a lot of the play but not getting the bounces.
