Too bad they have to play Dallas. That could be hard on the back.

difficult not to be cynical here. I don't doubt the injury, but the timing of this is, as always with Vegas, somewhat fortuitous, to say the least. I wish the league would clamp down on this stuff and force teams to be cap compliant in the playoffs as well, but it is what it is.

It really is crazy that once the playoffs start the cap is thrown out.

Literally, the best thing that can happen right now is for Vegas to not even make the playoffs. The sooner they slide down to being a sh*tbag team, the better.

Edit: Although, I suppose that just opens the door to them miraculously winning the next Crosby-calibre lottery.

Calgary's conditional 3rd says otherwise.

They need to go on a winning streak to end the season and the Kings need to falter down the stretch so they can jump up and play the Oilers in the first round and really rope those dopes.

Hate to tell you this. But you need the Coyotes, Avalanche, and Canucks to step aside and Ole the Oilers into the one seed if you want a Vegas and Edmonton first round series.

Watching Edmonton lose as the one seed would be pretty satisfying.

Ideally they get through the first round (preferably against the Oilers, knocking Van out of Division lead) then lose, while Vancouver loses in the 1st round too improving that 1st. Rule changes occur next year and they flounder even more, finishing 10th. Decide they're ####ed in 2026 and start trading everything away for futures and bottom out to give us the 1st OA

Edit: Why would I want Vancouver to win a round pfft

Or LA hits another snag and Vegas wins most of their games.

Just in time to circumvent the cap hit on the team in the playoffs!

Vegas is 3 points behind LA.
  • Vegas has 4 games remaining, all home games against: Minnesota, Colorado, Chicago, and Anaheim.

  • LA has 3 games remaining, all home games against: Anaheim, Minnesota, and Chicago.
LA would win a tiebreaker, so Vegas needs to be at least one point up.

Wouldn't VGK just need to finish higher than NSH (but not LAK) and EDM to finish higher than VAN for them to meet (as 2nd and 7th)?

It's possible I'm having a really dumb moment, but what would COL and ARI or VAN have to do with EDM getting the 1 seed? I mean, there's no way EDM is finishing higher than DAL anyway, but that's still all they'd need to do.

Everything else aside, I really don't understand how ARI would be involved...

Man, I hope this isn't going to be embarassing for me...

Edit: Oh wait... unless you meant WPG instead of ARI... but they'd still need to pass DAL to get the 1 seed.
