Careful. We all know he reads CP at work. I am sure he has an "Audit this guy" button somewhere.

I don't see the point of going to the most expensive place when other options are so close.
In house baker and in house butcher matter, if that's what you're buying. Until coop broke ties with federated coop, they used to have first pull on produce. I'm not sure where to get fruit and veggies anymore.

Doesn’t Costco get first dibs on everything?

I honestly don't know how people even shop there.

No frills is so much cheaper. I think I only used to go to Sobeys for their apple pies but they changed those and now they're gross.
It really comes down to what's my time and convenience worth.

I can be in and out of Co-op or Safeway in 10 minutes, they're both just a few blocks away, and Safeway isn't that much more expensive than Superstore (anecdotally for what I buy, at least.) Their produce is ####, however.--and waaay overpriced. Safeway just isn't moving apples, oranges, pears, etc at $5.99+/lb

The closet Superstore is like 15 mins away, I hate the size and layouts of the stores, and I'm struggling to think of a single thing I like (i.e. don't hate) about going there except it's the cheapest place to get good papayas. I don't even know where a No Frills is.

As for produce, I get just about all of it at Crossroads Market. Even in the winter Chongos and Broxburn both have great stuff, and reasonably priced.

No Frills is a 17-minute walk from my house and I do it often.

No doubt, that location must be packed!

Are there Loblaws out in Alberta? I assume there are other brands like Superstore, but how about Loblaws? Vancouver didn't have Loblaws, but has Superstore, City Marketplace and Independent which I believe are owned by Loblaw.

I am still stunned that the guy who gets bi-weekly haircuts is saying shopping at Coop is for elites.

No Frills. It’s a loblaws company as well.

It’s decent.

Vancouver has a couple Loblaws. There is one on Arbutus and one just opened up in the Post building downtown on Dunsmuir. One will open on Broadway and Granville. There are also locations in West Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Oh, I had no idea! Didn't see any when I lived there from 2010-2023.

Our area got converted from Sobeys to Fresh-co because No Frills opened near buy. what I've found with No Frills and Fresh-co is basically shrink-flation. 10% less cost, 20% smaller package.

Just for convenience I was a pretty regular Sobeys shopper before, probably 25% Costco, 75% Sobeys. Since the change drive twice as far for all my groceries, probably 30% Costco, 20% Sobeys, 20% Save-on, 30% Walmart, I generally avoid freshco.

Co-op I've always found very expensive.

The big Canadian chains I find you really have to exclusively shop for sales and house labels, first Tuesday of the month, stuff like that you can actually save money over the discount stores.

Costco depending on your habits, most families could probably find a dozen go to items they can save a lot of money on.

Walmart is usually pretty reasonable, but quality and freshness can be spotty at best.

Superstore you'd just have to pay me to go in there.

The one thing I will give Freshco, is they usually have a meat special that is a hell of a deal, and they are getting the Sobeys quality meat which is good.

We have those 3 here in High River and No Frills is by far the cheapest of them all. That said I do shop Co-Op just for the bread as I like what they have to offer.

There was a City Marketplace in NW Calgary but it closed a couple of years ago. Not sure if there are others? Regardless, Loblaws is not a big brand here other than Superstore.
