Default amazon.ca

Is it my imagination or is there all of a sudden a lot more stuff there.

Could've sworn I was looking for plumbing stuff a couple of weeks ago on .com as .ca had nothing and now they do. Same with some exercise equipment etc.

Slowly getting better. Seems like this across a lot of sites. Total guess, but it seems as though Canada is relaxing its customs and duties laws. Retailers are getting braver and a wider variety of goods are being made available to Canadians online.

Funny, I googled a digital camera last night, looking for the cheapest prices, ended up on amazon.ca I didn't search thoroughly yet, but it had the best prices I seen last night.

Not to hijack your thread, but I wonder if a lot of people use amazon.ca to shop for electronics or if there is a better site for online shopping?

Futureshop is trying to do the same thing. They are even selling luggage and furniture now.

I sure hope so. I'm tired of ordering from amazon.com and driving to Montana to pick it up.

I thought amazon.com shipped to Canada too? or does it depend on the item?

Depends on the item. Some items they cannot ship to Canada. The selection is greater from .com now, it used to be just books and DVDs.

Shipping and customs can sometimes add up.

Amazon.com will ship to Canada (with the exception of certain items that are banned due to legislation or monopoly agreements). Amazon also acts as a front for individual and independent retailers, many of which don't ship to Canada.

The risk of Amazon.com over Amazon.ca is you may end up paying custom/duties and higher shipping fees on items not shipped from Canada.

I love amazon.ca. I get most of my vinyl from there and it always comes with free shipping. Hard to beat.

Do they have more stuff, or are they just the middle man for a new website?

Amazon in both countries sell its own items and acts as a middleman. Alot of retailers in the US it acts as a middleman for wont ship to Canada.

I am guessing its not so much customs rules but maybe they signed up with a larger 3rd party Canadian retailer to sell differing items.
