Default Hartford: from one of the best team logos ever to one of the worst
Trying to cash in on the Whalers legacy, the Hartford Wolf Pack are being renamed the Connecticut Whale.

Included is this fail of a new logo:

I guess they couldn't get license for the original Hartford one...

They should be the Canuck's farm team though.

What kind of a team determines they'll change their name and logo "at some point during the season"??

Also, there's like 8 teams in Connecticut in the AHL. Odd choice for a team name.

They do have the rights to both the name and logo but for some reason chose not to use it. The name of Baldwin's company is Whalers Sports & Entertainment and they had a giant Whalers classic logo banner at the press conference.

The C is virtually the same font as the "S" in the early-90s Springfield Indians logo.

I love that site. Been a big fan for years.

He also nailed it with his review of the Quad City Flames' logo. It's no longer on the site, of course, but I think I may have it archived on my own computer somewhere.

My humble but infallible opinion: The Flames' front office should stop trying to design logos and uniforms. They have the fashion sense of Dennis Rodman on dumb dust. Unfortunately, they're so bad at it that when they try to contract the job out to a skilled professional, they can't tell the skilled professionals from the freaks who made Rodman's outfits.

The Omaha logo was actually pretty decent...as was Saint John's logo their last few years here, though that was contracted out to a company in New Jersey...and I'm pretty sure it was the local ownership that looked after all that, not the big Flames in Calgary.
