wranglers Todd Gill to be named Adirondack assistant coach

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Former KGN Frontenac head coach Todd Gill expected to resurface today as asst coach of CGY's AHL farm team in ADK. Ryan Huska is head coach.

Gill was fired by Gilmour after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against Peterborough with a 3-0 lead.

And no this doesn't mean they hired him because of Bennett. Bennett can't be assigned to the AHL for the next 2 years because of the NHL/AHL/CHL agreement

It may not be because of Bennett, but I sure as heck hope it helps Bennett out!

That was a pretty epic choke. Hopefully he finds his footing on Huska's wing.

One playoff series isn't enough to judge him within a body of work. There's a lot of good coaches who lose a 3-0 series lead, but Gill took a dwindling rebuilding Kingston team and improved their record dramatically each year and back into the mix after one poor year.

Improving a team record by 28 points over two seasons is highly impressive.

He was a very successful tier 2 Jr A coach in Ontario (BCHL, AJHL type level although the Ontario leagues aren't as good as those out West) before moving to Kingston.
