Awesome, what's not to like. Hope Joe works hard and gets paid a hell of a lot more on the next one!

Didn't Feaster say, there was no way Flames would pay him 3 mil?

if he is still RFA after this deal ends, the $$ in his RFA year determine his qualifying offer. A bigger number here means a bigger qualifying offer

Great deal for everyone involved. Colborne did nothing but improve over the course of the season and will hopefully continue that trajectory.

Would also like to say I'm very happy about the return to the bridge contract, since the new CBA was signed.

Yes. In my post, there is a quote from Feaster right below my thought, which you just quoted.

Not a bad deal at all. Id like to see him play with Mono and Baertschi this season. Sven and Mono had some great chemistry at the start of last season and adding an improving 6'5 winger to the other side could make a dynamite young line moving forward.

I understand how the qualifying offer process works*, but nothing we have been shown so far means he gets more in year two than in year one. That's all I'm saying. You might think that, and it might be that, but nothing says it is that, which is what your first post states.
It might also be $1.275 per year.

*Not meant to sound dickish, if it does.

Then to clarify, I am making a supposition that the contract would rise in year 2 based on other multi-year awards made to RFA players and the fact that the cap number is irregular, suggesting it is potentially an average between two different salary numbers.

$2.55 = AAV of $1.275, which is what's been reported on Twitter.

I believe QO is based on AAV of contract in Year 2. May be mistaken.

Thank you for your supposition.
Again, you may very well be right, but I was not sure what existed that it was the case, as opposed to it might be the case.

Joe just needs to work on raising the puck on that forehand to backhand deke. I think his SO% will go up just from that alone, if the goalie freezes in any way from the forehand fake its a guaranteed goal instead of bouncing off a desperately stretched pad once in a while.

I don't remember the specifics, but there was something significant would happen or kick-in if a player in his situation made $3,000,000 or more per year. I remember much speculation and joking here that Sutter just handed him a $5 bill.

Wow, SureLoss not starting the thread??...hmmm I guess it just proves that SureLoss is human and not a robot or a supercomputer.

I love this deal. I think it is just perfect and I am glad it got settled before the arbitration. Sometimes the arbitration works against both parties.

^^^ The whole reason that Phoenix goal happens is because Chris Butler can't clear the zone.

Congratulations to Colborne, I think he could be a bigger part of this team going forward than a lot of people think.

Great signing. I really liked Colborne last year and what he was able to do with the puck. Hopefully he can take a couple more steps forward in terms of development this year.
