Wow this is seemingly unprecedented! 158-to-158

2 days later and it's 159-159. I think it's safe to call this one a draw.

Maybe (via twitter? I don't have but I know people do) we can somehow get Gillies and Ortio to do a round of rock paper sissors to settle this.

completely agree. If we look at this century's Vezina trophy winners, here's where they were drafted:
Hasek: 10th round
Theodore: 2nd round
Brodeur: 1st round (ugh flames drafted good old kidd before brodeur)
Kiprusoff: 5th round
Thomas: 9th round
Miller: 5th round
Lundvquist: 7th round
Bobrovsky: never drafted
Rask: 1st round

According to this article (http://houseofpuck.com/?p=513): which looks at the opportunity cost of drafting a goalie, writtin 2011 i think:
Quote:
The average NHL goalie is 29 years of age. That means that a goalie drafted today likely won’t be ready to play for 11 years, or until the year 2022. Former first-round picks like Cam Ward and Carey Price may buck this trend by playing at a high level in their early 20’s, but they are extreme cases. Furthermore, there’s very little assurance that a goalie who’s selected in the 1st round pick will be better than his draft lagging peers.
...
of the top-20 goal scorers in the NHL last year, only one was selected outside of the first round
seems like a complete toss up.

Why are we posting the poll numbers in every post? Everyone can see them.

You can see them if you've already voted.

Ortio up by 4 now...what a landslide!

But seriously though, I think we can safely call this a tie. Pretty amazing that even the run off is this close.

Gives you context in how the poll progresses, if you just say oh Ortio is up by 2 doesn't necessarily mean much if the poll changes at all after posting. It's been flip-flopping between Ortio and Gillies. Excited to see them next year!

Plus Tapatalk users can't see the poll, it's nice getting some updates without having to go to the full site.

Ortio won (close) in both the regular poll and the run off so he's the winner.
