I really wouldn't have a problem picking Hanafin at #3....

Looked at the site. I didn't realize Buffalo has 3 first rounders in next year's strong draft. They may suck but they did a great job of getting picks from other teams. As long as they don't edmonton it up they are going to be very good in a few years.

Doughty is arguably the best defenseman in the NHL. Ovechkin is a highlight reel, but does h e help you win?
And I would take Stamkos over Malkin all day, though I can see why some like Malkin.
Overall, no contest as to which pair I would want to build a team around.

Kylington was a PPG D-man in the under 20 league last year 21 pts in 21 games and had 6 points in 32 games in the mens league. It's virtually unheard of to have a D-man put up those points in that league at that age.
For comparison, Ekman Larsson had only 8 points in 27 games in the level below the mens league at the same age. In his draft year he had 17 points in 39 games in that same league. Kylington is slated to start in the mens league.

God we're going to get someone amazing if we're bottom 4 again this year.

That's why I'm not really concerned if we miss out of McDavid/Eichel, because Hanifin and Kylington are amazing consolation prizes.

Hanifin/Kylington are more needed organizationally for sure, but I'm totally on the Eichel bandwagon, even if it creates a log jam!

^ Even if we played even better (and made it in the 10-15 range), Werenski is still on the board too.

If the Flames somehow sucked enough to land Eichel or McDavid (unlikely, but it's possible), they would have to trade for a great defensive prospect. Though he looks like he'll be a decent NHL player, Wotherspoon being your top defensive prospect is a very bad thing.

I think after this year's draft is when we might possibly need to start looking for a top end RW prospect and a defensive one if we don't have them already, by trading a LW/C prospect(s). I don't know much about the 2nd round in the 2015 draft, but I hear 2015 has 60 top end prospects, so hopefully we don't trade our 2nd.

Arguably, they need to trade for one even if they get Hanifin or Kylington or whoever in this draft.
If they do get a stud d-man prospect, he most likely won't be ready to anchor a d-pairing for 5 years anyways.

If we suck enough for McDavid or Eichel we take them without question. Our blue line needs work but so does everything. I rather trade from a position of strength than try to draft based on need. We are a ways away from being competitive so elite players at every position are needed.

I know Wheeler always puts up decent numbers but 22nd on the list is pretty impressive.
Don't see how this relates to the 2015 draft though lol.

If anyone wants to watch potential 2015 draft picks this upcoming week:
The u18 rosters:
RED
WHITE
Perhaps the only time to see some of these highly ranked players in Calgary and in person. Lots of projected 1st rounders.
Also the U17 scrimmages may be worth watching. Featuring potential high draft picks from the 2016 draft like Sean Day, Jakob Chychrun, Tyler Benson, Michael McLeod etc.

I would not consider a D man in the first round of the draft unless they were predicted top 2-3 places, they take longer to develop than forwards. We will be looking to move forward after next years draft and not in a position to wait for a D to develop. Personally I go for a top end forward and try to acquire D through a trade.
Probably easier said than done but that would be my thought.

2 of the coolest names; Hayden McCool and Chaz ed dekopp. I'd be happy drafting them just for their names.

2. Eichel
3. Hanfin
4. Barzal
5. Kylington
6. Andersson
7. Sprong

If we draft Hayden McCool I am definitely buying his jersey.
