Kinda crazy, but that 2010 draft where we didn't have a pick in the first two rounds is really starting to look like it might turn out to be our best draft in quite a while.
Reinhart, Leach, Ferland and Holland all seem to be developing really nicely.
.....same with Arnold and Ramage as well.
Be a while before we find out, but looks good so far.

Generally-speaking, I've been told that the later rounds Tod Button is allowed to work his list. This year was the first where they explicitly worked the list in the first round, due to Feaster putting a lot of faith in Button's scouting department.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me.
With our draft history over the last bunch of years, people wonder how Button still has a job with us. I think it might be because he wasn't allowed to "work his list" during Darryl Sutter's tenure as much as he should have been.

I think it might also be a lack of enough scouts early on. Darryl came in and started adding scouts, drafting seemed to be getting better. I guess only Button would know for sure why the drafting was terrible - Darryl, lack of scouting or mistakes made on Button's part.
Either way, it seems to be getting better and better, and hope it continues trending upwards in the seasons to come.

And that's why Button is still around. If thing weren't improving, I think he'd be gone, but they are getting better with each year. Improving things like scouting usually don't fix themselves overnight, but incrimentally, as is the case with the Flames.

A heads up that on Friday October 21 (tomorrow), the Portland @ Oil Kings game will be on available on Shaw TV at 7. Will be a good chance to watch a few of our prospects.

If anyone is interested I have consolidated all Flames prospects and players as well as there stats here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...hl=en_US#gid=0
I try to update it daily. Sometimes every 48-hours. If anyone wants to be added as a collaborator to help keep it up to date then give me a message.

Thanks, I was wondering why he wasn't playing today. Brossoit looks pretty good.

Unfortunately that probably means he's out of the lineup on Tuesday when his team plays the Hitmen in Calgary. We can still see Max Reinhart play on Sunday when his team comes to town.

On Shaw I think they stated he may return on the trip-it's a long one-but it doesn't look good for Tuesday. What I kind of don't understand is why the Flames aren't having their doctors look at him while he's in Alberta.

Those two certainly seem to be developing some chemistry down there together.
Hopefully that continues for years and years to come.

Brossoit stops 20 of 24 shots in a 8-4 win. He let in 4...but at least he didn't pull a Re8erto. Also P.S. I know its off topic but it was great hearing Peter Loubardias behind the mic again. Really miss that guy.
