After buying my Trek Farley 5 on Jan 21 the weather has gone full DeCaprio
I have put over 80 k on it so far mostly in and around Fish Creek.
I have had one wipe out on sheer ice.
I am experimenting with tire pressures and enjoying riding the hell out of it.
I am also constantly going einy meanie minie moe between it and my cyclocross Jake the Snake.
Fridays are now 100% dedicated to the Fatty regardless of weather (Fat Bike Fridays)
Last Friday was a fun mud bath.
Sorry for the lousy picture.

Timbo, how was fat bike Friday?
My. Wife and I took our mtn bike for a spin today after getting it back from the shop on Wednesday. Bike rode quite nicely. Tried out the new 42 tooth climbing gear, and it seemed comical how my legs were spinning like crazy and I was hardly moving.
Also, decided to give my fat bike a bath, and take the pedals off and turn the handlebars sideways, I'll move it down to the basement after it dries off tomorrow. I'd estimate I got about 250 km's on it - on a per Km basis it was an expensive purchase.

I'm thinking about doing the same with my roadie - especially since I plan on tackling the Highwood Pass. did you have to replace any other parts? The chain I assume?
Having tried it now - did you notice a big difference on a climb?

You might not need a chain at all depending how long it is now. Are you running multi rings up front? I put one on my fatbike and just had to dial in the b adjustment screw a little. It will make a big difference depending what you run now for your cassette range.

I had to swap out my rear derailleur for a long cage one. I also decided it was time for a new study cassette and then also replaced the chain with an xt version.
I have not tried for a climb yet, hopefully next weekend in Bragg or nose hill or something.

I bought some road tires there once. Shipping was free and I managed to avoid paying duties (got lucky). It took a few weeks to get over here. No real complaints!

I've never actually been to Fish Creek in the summer! Only explored the park in the winter time. So amazing to have something like this in the city!
Great photos!

We have real sickness in our house as we are a family of four and we have a total of 8 bikes

Budget is about $1500, any suggestions for shops or bikes themselves?
I haven't bought a bike since 2004 and it was a Trek 4500, so I think it's time to move on from that. Don't really want to take the Trek touring. Thanks.

I got mine for about $1700 at Bowcycle. Made by Cannondale. Can't remember the model. No issues with it at all.

Ya but mine is embarrassing being old and fat and pathetically out of shape
I'm on Strava free but if you want a laugh my name on Strava is Tim the Fat #######
The swear filter does not let me post my handle but it stars with B and ends with d
My KOM's include beer guzzling, hot dog and nacho eating, hill avoidance and extreme couch potatoing
