Default Delicious home packed lunches!

Seriously, I know many of you pack lunches for work and it's the best way to go hands down. You can save like $10-$15 per day, and really, if you're prepared to pack a good lunch anyways when you go to the grocery store, you're in good shape.

Anyways, so usually I'm wicked lazy about my lunch and I'll pack some pizza pops and a pepsi or something, but today- like some other random days -I really had time to make a great lunch.

Spicy thai tuna + Ritz Crackers,
Turkey and Cheddar Sandwich on a Kaiser,
100% Apple Juice AND an Apple,
A yogurt, Vanilla Peach,
And finally, some Oreos.

Now I'm looking so forward to lunch that my morning is taking forever.

Share your delicious lunch stories.

Huge tupperware container filled with sliced watermelon. That's all.

During the Summer months I buy 2 watermelons a week, don't care how much they cost.

When I was in elementary school my mom would put hot dogs in a thermos with some boiling water. What a disaster that was. Hot dogs expand quite a bit in water after 4-5 hours.

Nothing, and I mean nothing beats a good ol' peanut butter and honey sandwich. Light on the PB, heavy on the honey. Thick slices of bread also.

At least 2 juice boxes, the first one seems to go after 1 sip.

1-2 pounds of cherries.

I like to wear a bib and just spit the pits onto my chest as I eat. It is heinous to behold, but DAMN I love cherries.

Wow, where do you buy lunches that it saves you $10-$15 a day??

I used to buy my lunch every day, and started bringing my lunch to save money. I've found that I'm not really saving that much. Maybe $5/day, and I only need lunch for 4 days/week, and usually forget to make lunch once/week, so really it's 3 times a week I bring lunch. Meaning I save about $15/week, $60/month, which I guess must be going somewhere else that I'm not noticing.

Probably beers at Flames games.

Anyway, my lunches consist of good ole PB&J. It's tasty, and it keeps without refrigeration. I probably enjoy a good ham sandwich more, but the ham just isn't good after being kept at room temp for a few hours.

Today I had a beautiful turkey sandwich on multigrain bread with lettuce and some cranberry mayo, a Coke (free at the office! whee!), and a chocolate chip cookie.

Yum yum and yum!

In the winter tho, nothing beats those Chunky soups that you can bring to work and heat in the microwave....

I'm lucky, live about 2 minutes from where I work.

I go home for lunch almost every day.

I have a delicious home made lunch nearly every day, and I don't even have to pack it. No I don't work from home, but I live in Lethbridge so I go home for lunch everyday. I tell you I am noticing a huge amount of savings by going home to lunch everyday now that I don't work in downtown Lethbridge.

When I worked in downtown Lethbridge it was too easy to go out to lunch everyday with all these restaurants all around. It only took a couple of months at my current job for me to notice the benefits of eating at home. My wallet was fuller and my clothes were looser.

Brilliant. I usually use a big salad bowl and shoot them in there so that my hands don't end up looking like OJ Simpson's.

My old truck had a sunroof. Summer trips to BC always involve stopping at fruit stands. Spitting the pits straight up out the sunroof is much better than spitting them out the window.

Spinach wrap with imitation crab meat salad + organic lettuce + organic tomato + sprouts
Grapefruit juice for drink
pink lady apple (I was curious about them and what made them $1.29/lb when normal apples are 99 cents/lb)

Today I went to the Sunterra salad bar....can't beat a salad with roasted red peppers.
Just ate my raspberry yogurt and got a nice apply and nectarine waiting for me in the fridge.

I have an excellent arrangement for lunch. A vietnamese place around the corner give me half price if I order before 11. So I get a huge plate of homecooked fresh food for $5.00. I can't pack a lunch big enough to be satisfying for less than $5.00.

HAHA, That's epic!

Also, true about the juice boxes. Why does the first one always disappear so quickly? I always hated that, took me a long time to convince my mom to pack me two....and then shortly afterwards she stopped packing lunches for me
