Ya I don't like having extra consoles taking up space if they aren't needed. Then again there's no way I'm believing this service will be good enough to outright replace the console. My guess is it'll be similar to the virtual console on the Wii, with titles trickling out every month.

PS4 has some seriously cool games on the indie/download scene the next little while.

Towerfall Ascension, Steamworld Dig, Fez, and Mercenary Kings all look excellent and are out in the next three weeks! Plus free Dead Nation (which is really fun, especially online), and a big exclusive in Infamous. If you aren't playing your PS4 in the next couple weeks it's because you're trying not to.

Sony's upping the price of the PS4 $50 in Canada. This suggests they're very confident their hardware sales will continue to outpace the Xbox, and also that they need the money.

I don't think it's either of those. This is merely a product of fluctuating exchange rate and what the PS4 retails for in USD. November exchange rate was 1:0.98 or close enough to keep at parity, exchange rate now is 1:0.89. 399/0.89=$448. Since our electronics are priced in USD from distributors, you'll find goods across the board start going up in price as the current stocks are exhausted if our exchange rate gap doesn't start narrowing.

Game prices have been increasing across the board at Futureshop, Best Buy and EB games for a long time now due to currency differences.

Not a good move by Sony IMO, Microsoft had a slow start but this move might get them back in the game. Hardcore gamers tend to be very bitter people and hold grudges lol.

MSFT is a business too, if our exchange rate goes any lower it's only a matter of time before those go up in cost by likely the same amount. It'll happen when the current stock of Xbox ones on the shelf and the ones already ordered at the previous price are exhausted. Sustained exchange related currency losses are adjusted on a quarterly basis. So at most 3-4 months.

Wonder how those who cancelled their pre-orders feel now. With still record breaking sales you won't see a PS4 price reduction for a long time, and with the Canadian dollar still going down they could become more expensive still. That's why I stuck with my pre-order even though the launch game lineup was really weak
