Vanacek is actually as good as either of those guys.
He had a terrible year, but last year he was quite good and before that he was the definition of solid in Washington. His problem was they signed him to 3.4 and a year later he had a bad season.

To me it looks like they did a bunch of transactions to end up in the same spot they were before... for this season anyways. I like this move for them after, saves them the money they had committed to Vanecek next season.

Striles me that Fitz is doing what Treliving did - looking for a goalie almost every year instead of letting his guys work it out.
Ramo to Hiller. Hiller to Elliott. Elliott to Smith. Smith to Talbot. Talbot to Markstrom. And almost every time he sent a goalie away, they rebounded to some degree.

These guys are goalies and not great ones. There is a probably a 50-50 shot one of them will be good next year. No idea how you guess which one it is.

with Allen and Kahkonen, the Devils will have auditioned a dozen or more goalies in the past few seasons. This will just reinforce their need for a true #1 this summer
